"Dad, I promise I will find the hidden treasure so the people of China can have a better life", as Mark bowed down on his boat in the middle of the sea. Before he got ready to dive in the water, Mark noticed some dugongs nearby and was hoping he could touch one. He eventually got all his equipment ready and jumped into the ocean. Mark immediately felt cold as he submerged into the Ocean. As he was dropping deeper into the water, he had flashbacks about his childhood. There he was, scuba diving and finishing with his dad in the ocean. "God, how I wish I could see my dad again," Mark thought. Suddenly, his happy yet sad thoughts were disturbed by a deep loud voice that stated "who is near my turf and why are you here!". Mark tried to identify who was speaking to him in such a frightening voice but everything around him had suddenly become darker and Mark could not see anything around him or where he was going. Mark was really scared because he was afraid someone from town had followed him and would try to get the treasure before him.

Soon after, there was light again but a large shadow prevented him from seeing everything. As Mark followed the shadow, his eyes became wide open in shock as he looked up and saw a huge octopus that surrounded him. As the octopus got closer to Mark, it swung his long arms desperately trying to grasp him. As Mark was desperately trying to get away, he thought to himself "why is this octopus trying to hurt me"? Mark noticed a large arm coming his way so he swam in the opposite direction trying to escape. The octopus missed and became angry so he grabbed Mark by his neck and tried to strangle him. Mark put his arms up to prevent the octopus from suffocating him. Mark was able to become loose from one arm and tried to hit the octopus but the large arms were too powerful.

Mark remembered he had a pocket knife in his waistband, so he reached down trying to make sure the octopus didn't see him. At first, he struggled to get the knife with one arm but finally got it out and sliced the octopus's head open. The octopus little by little began to lose strength and let me go. Frightened, I hurried and repositioned my mouth piece and oxygen tank as I saw the octopus sink deeper into the ocean. I then continued to swim and saw something shining at the bottom of the ocean where the octopus landed.

My first thought was, the treasure! Although I was afraid of the large octopus I thought about the reason why I went to the sea and I suddenly got strength to continue swimming down to where that beast landed. As I got closer to the shining light I could not believe what my eyes saw! The light became brighter and I could not hold my tears back from the happiness I felt inside. It was the treasure, so many people died trying to get it, including my father. As soon I went up to the boat, I took off my wetsuit and my tank and sat down staring at the treasure box amazed. I was very nervous but I calmed myself down and finally opened the box. There they were, hundreds of shiny gold coins. I was so grateful that I was able to accomplish what I had promised my dad so I bowed down and thanked God and my father for helping me find the treasure. I hurried back to my home town and announced to everyone that I was finally going to help the people in my town. With some of the money from the treasure, I made a statue of my dad and the huge octopus in his memory to remind myself of my great accomplishment.
