Third pov

A whistle sounded behind Naruto and Menma stood there right at the doorway where Shikamaru and Naruto conversated. "Is my baby brother Naruto in loveee~" he sounded out love, over exaggerating the meaning.

Naruto glared and kneed Menma in the stomach due to being so close in which Menma had been pinching his cheeks hence teasing him. "No I'm not in lovee~, it's a friend thing" he bluffed but in a silly sort of way.

Menma held his stomach on the floor while Naruto walked back towards the kitchen.

-time skip

By this time dinner had came around and Naruto completed the prepping ahead of time so dinner could run by smoothly. A routine he'd always done since he learned to cook as a child.

"Menma dinner is ready" and instantly as if a child dying in hunger Menma was there. "Smells good" he smothered childishly.

"Glad to know" Naruto spoke setting the filled bowls of food down. He lowered himself to his knees and leaned back on his calves.

Naruto had more mannerisms than Menma himself. Menma sat criss-cross applesauce style, clapping his hands together in a 'thank you' before digging in.

In the middle of eating Menma spoke, "so when's your date. Have you thought of that. Like the day I mean" he paused staring at Naruto. "I didn't hear either of you say when ya know."

Narutos eyes widened as he sprung up, "I was so caught up in the moment that I didn't think of that, you're a life saver Menma."

With that he rushed out and into his room he went, he grappled for an empty scroll and feather inked pen. Rushing to scribble a couple words down onto the scroll in his neatest handwriting possible.

And it was pretty neat for a boy, like prettily neat. Once he finished he rushed for the messenger bird and clipped the scrolls satchel onto its back, sending it off to the Nara Clans estate.

Shikamaru's pov

I lay on my futon hands behind my head daydreaming of Naruto and his beautiful eyes. One blue like diamonds and the other outlined blue while the center splayed a honey colored orange.

I smiled inwardly. I've always caught him as intriguing. Ever since he applied to the academy his bright features caught my attention.
