two instances in which sokka helps his poor touch-starved friend zuko, plus one in which he helps the same boy, now his lover. 

note: slightly suggestive

1.

they were alone, having gone out for a walk. sokka noticed something off about zuko. sure, he was an awkward guy, always holding himself as such, but this was different. sokka could tell that something was up, so he decided to ask.

"hey, buddy, what's up?" sokka asked, putting his hand on zuko's shoulder. 

"oh, uh, dunno," zuko replied, as if caught off guard, "i guess it's just a general thing. anxiety n' all."

"you sure?" sokka said, knowing that this wasn't the first time zuko would try to avoid talking about what was troubling him. 

"not.. sure," zuko mumbled, "just, uh, thinking about.. dad." sokka willed himself not to grimace once he heard that. 

zuko's father had never been the nicest guy, which felt like the understatement of the century. he was cruel, ruthless, and held no place in his heart for love. not for his wife, not for his children, not even for himself. he'd drop anyone that dragged him down, were inconvenient. he was a sad, sad man. 

zuko lived with his uncle now, along with his sister, azula. they visited their mother and her new family once in a while. sokka had met them a few times, quickly becoming kiyi's favorite. but all of this didn't mean that zuko didn't have any moments. 

"do you want to talk about it?" sokka asked, wanting to help zuko. 

"uh, not really," zuko said quietly. 

"is there any other way i can help?" 

"can we.. hold hands?" zuko asked softly, "i just.. need something to distract me."

"sure thing, ace," sokka grinned, taking zuko's hand in his. "better?"

"yeah," zuko said, a small smile appearing on his face. 

they continued on their walk, a much better mood in the air. leaning on each other and spending their walk in silence, sokka felt glad that he was helping his friend.

2. 

one of the next times something like this happened was when they were watching a movie. frozen, to be specific. they had been watching their favorite disney movies, and now they were watching sokka's favorite. the little mermaid was zuko's, but he liked this one as well. 

they were about halfway through the movie when sokka noticed it again. 

"zuko? buddy?" sokka nudged the other, looking over at him, "something up again?" 

a beat of silence. 

"can we cuddle?" zuko asked quietly, not taking his eyes off his lap. 

"of course," sokka replied, holding his arms out wide, "come on, ace." 

zuko did as told, leaning against sokka and allowing himself to be wrapped up in sokka's arms. he sighed contently, enjoying the feeling. "thank you, sokka." 

"no problem."

"sokka?" zuko asked, sitting down next to the other on the couch. he rested his head down on sokka's shoulder, closing his eyes. 

"yeah, sweetheart?" sokka turned toward his lover, "something up?"

"can you hold me?" zuko requested, "on your lap? please?"

"for you, ace, anything," sokka replied, zuko then moving to sit on sokka's lap. he leaned back, his head, again, resting on sokka's shoulder. 

"and, uh, your hands?" zuko added, smiling sheepishly. 

"of course." sokka placed his hands on zuko's hips, slipping one under his shirt. zuko hummed, content. sokka teased at one of zuko's nipples, making the other moan. 

"tease," zuko muttered, shuffling a bit on sokka's lap. 

"you like it," sokka defended, pinching the nipple. zuko stifled another moan, swatting lightly at sokka. 

"whatever," zuko breathed, "just.. don't stop. please."

"since you asked so nicely," sokka replied, his other hand teasingly skimming under zuko's pants, "would you mind if this went a little farther?"

"oh god, yes," zuko replied, "please, sokka." sokka grinned, thumb under zuko's pants, and slowly started pulling them down. 

"anything, sweetheart."
