Muse A is a shapeshifter that frequently shifts into cute animals – dogs, cats, the occasional bunny – to cheer people up who are having bad days.
One day, when they shift into a fluffy black mutt, Muse A is unable to shift back. They run into Muse B, who immediately falls in love with the black mutt and takes them in.
Muse A now must try to communicate their problem with the air-headed but well-meaning Muse B if they ever want to switch back to normal.
Dark Plot Twist: Muse B is playing dumb, but they intentionally used some type of magic to hinder the shapeshifter's abilities.
