"Please?"

"Norah, I already told you we don't have the money to just be doing that." her mother was not happy with Norah. Norah had been begging for weeks to go on the big 6th grade trip.

"What if I raised half of the money?" Norah's mother thought this was a great idea and would teach her some responsibility so she agreed.

"Okay fine, you can start with extra chores around the house and I'll call around and see if the neighbours need their leaves raked or help with yard work.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Norah was so excited for this opportunity. She did the dishes, washed the laundry, and even cleaned the bathrooms! There was only a few weeks left until the trip and Norah had raised over half the cost, she was so proud of herself. She decided she was going to hang out with some friends and practice kickball to reward herself for all the hard work she had done.

"Hey Marley, heads up!" Norah kicked the ball with force.

Crash!

Oh no! The kickball had broken a window! Norah's mother was very upset with her and decided that she would have to pay for the window to be repaired as punishment. After the window was repaired Norah only had a little money left. This was upsetting to Norah. There was only a few weeks left how was she supposed to raise that much money with so little time? Her mother had noticed how upset she was and gave her one more opportunity to raise money. They decided they would host a dog wash! Norah loved dogs so she liked the idea.

That weekend they hosted the dog wash. It was less fun than Norah thought it was going to be. Some dogs liked to be bathed, others not so much. Norah was glad when it was over and she raised the money back! She was so happy but she just celebrated with an ice cream cone this time. Wouldn't want anymore accidents!

The day came to leave for the big trip. Norah hugged her mom goodbye and got on the bus. When Norah arrived home she couldn't wait to tell her mother all the fun things they did and give her the souvenirs she bought her. Norah was glad that she raised half the money for the trip, it made it even more special.
