Chapter 16:
"There's no way you're THAT stupid! How on earth did you sleep through an entire day of class?" I laughed as Cedric continued to tell me stories about his time at Hogwarts.
"I have no idea I swear! I was up so late the night before lost in a book and I hadn't realized I stayed up the whole night."
"You like to read?" Cedric nods. "Oh."
"What?" He says looking up at me.
"N-nothing," I look off to the left, all of a sudden this tree was so interesting.
"You're lying."
"And how would you know that?"
"I just can, now tell me what were you thinking?" I sigh and fiddle with the corner of the blanket, shaking my head.
"I just didn't expect you to be the type of person to be into reading that's all."
"And why's that?" Cedric asks, smiling.
"Well, based on what you've told me, you seem pretty popular. You're even the Hufflepuffs' quidditch team captain and seem to have girls fawning over you everytime you pass by. I just didn't think that Pretty-Boy Diggory would be into reading."
"Pretty-Boy? Ah so you think I'm pretty?" He asks with a smirk.
"Oh shut up don't get so full of yourself. Anyways what's your favorite book if you're so into reading?"
"Pride and Prejudice. It's a muggle book about enemies to lovers. You?"
"Romeo and Juliet. It's a classic muggle story." Cedric raises an eyebrow, seeming to be surprised that I picked a love story when I normally came off as a cold person. "I like how it's a forbidden romance."
"Do you also like how they die at the end?" Cedric states jokingly. I giggle in response.
"Well I like it because it shows that not everyone gets a happy ending. It's realistic."
"You don't think you'll get a happy ending?" He looks into my eyes, causing my pulse to quicken.
"I don't really think I deserve one." I mentally slap myself. Was I really opening up to Cedric Diggory of all people? I can't believe I actually just said that outloud.
"Why?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Diggory, you're asking the girl who got sent to Azkaban why she thinks she doesn't deserve a happy ending. What do you think?" I say sarcastically, knowing this excuse would cover up my real answer. He probably thought about what I had "done" to get myself sent to Azkaban, me on the other hand thought about the things I would be forced to do in the future; knowing my family.
"I think you deserve the world."
"What makes you think I, of all people, deserve the world?" Cedric runs his hand through his messy brown hair before answering.
"Because I can tell that you're not what people make you out to be. Everyone thinks you're this hardcore, closed off girl who is trouble. I know for a fact, deep down, you have a heart and care deeply about other people." I didn't know whether or not to be impressed or terrified. Cedric read me like a book. It was like he could see right through the wall I put up and into my soul, and I couldn't tell if I liked that or not.a/n: HELLO SORRY I'M BACK!!
