Chapter 1: Moving?!

Madelyn's P.O.V.
**Flashback to freshman year**
I sat down at my lunch table with Sarah, Jerome, and Mitch. "Hey guys. How is everyone?" I asked. Mitch and Jerome shared a look, and Sarah just shrugged. I was about to ask what's wrong, when 2 trays plopped down on either side of me. Preston was on my left next to Sarah,and Lachlan on my right. Preston threw his arm over Sarah's shoulders and kissed her cheek. Lachlan gave me a warm hug and kissed my cheek. I smiled at him and hugged him back. I noticed Mitch and Preston share a look like the one Mitch shared with Jerome not long earlier. I was really confused, and I didn't like it. "Why does everyone keep looking at each other?" I asked. Mitch looked at Jerome and Preston looked at Sarah. I looked over at Lachlan and noticed a panicking glint in his eye, but it was gone a millisecond later, replaced with a calm look. He put his hand on my knee and leaned over to say it quietly so only our table would hear. He kissed my cheek before saying, "It's nothing. Just... Merome issues. " he looked over at Mitch and Jerome as they glared at him. But Mitch eventually nodded and Jerome explained. "Yea. Mitch thinks he is a better pvp player than me, so we're on a break until he learns we are both equally good. " I rolled my eyes at their stupid problem. Sarah laughed at my response. "Omg I know it stupid right? Like, who goes on a break over something as stupid as who is better at pvp?!" she said so me. I nodded in agreement. Preston spoke up and doomed himself. "Hey, we all know that Mitch sucks at pvp. It's obviously Jerome who's better!" Mitch glared at him and Preston smirked at him. Mitch then flicked a green bean at Preston and it landed in his hair. Preston gasped and everyone else started laughing. "You little sandstormer!" He growled. Before he could do anything else, the bell rang and Preston ran off with Sarah trailing behind him. We all laughed even harder as we walked off to dump our trays. Lachlan was on my right again and threw his arm over my shoulder,and I intertwined my hand with the hand over my shoulder. As we walked down the hallway, and a lot of people said hey to us. The Homecoming Dance was this Friday and I was running for Queen. Suddenly, I felt a push against my left side. Shelby Holloway had pushed me. She has always hated me. I don't even know why, she just does. She pushed me right into Lachlan. "Hey! watch where you're going!" Lachlan told her. He was pretty intimidating, at 6"3", really buff, and captain of the baseball team. I loved him. Shelve turned around with an annoyed look on her face. she saw Lachlan and immediately got a nice look on her face. Then she noticed our still intertwined handed. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out. She closed her mouth, glared at me, and walked away, running into some random kid as she did. I snickered. So did Lachlan. He dragged me down the electives hall and waited for everyone to close their doors. "We're going to be late for Algebra 2 come on Lachlan lets go!" I tried to drag him back towards our classroom, but he didn't budge. He leaned down and kissed me. I wrapped t arms around his neck as I folded into the kiss, completely forgetting about class. After a minute, he broke the kiss. His fax suddenly became serious and he had little tears in his eyes. " look Maddie, there is something I need to tell you..." he started crying as he looked at the ground. I grabbed his hand as my mind wandered to Shelby looking surprised at us holding hands earlier. Oh no. Not Shelby. No no no no no. I then dropped his hand and took a cautious step back. "What's wrong?" I asked, hoping he didn't do anything with Shelby. He liked at me as he cried. "I- I'm m-moving." He stuttered. I felt mixed emotions. Happy it wasn't Shelby, angry he didn't tell me at lunch, sad that its happening. I pulled him into a hugged and started crying with him. "W-where are you moving to?" I started stuttering. He tarted crying even harder. He couldn't be moving that far away could he? We live in Los Angeles so the worst is along the east coast. He hugged me tighter as he said the worst word possible. "Australia"
