Broken.

Everything was blurry.
Clementine tried open her eyes, she kept hearing sounds of people and things moving and smelling things.
Smelling blood, smelling trees, smelling the scent of AJ, her sweet little goofball.

All of that happened in the span of a week. She'd drift in and out of consciousness, she'd open her eyes and everything would look blurry, she'd try to talk, she'd hear voices and sounds, she'd smell things and people.

But every time this happened, she'd find herself in an intense pain and would black out all over again, and she'd been like this for a week.

She remembered people trying to give her water and she'd welcome it and try to talk better but all that came out were groans of immense pain that force her back into sleep.

She didn't know if she was alive or dead, or stuck in some kind of time loop because things weren't better or changing, or maybe she was in hell.

She couldn't tell.

She would dream of people she knew, things that she'd seen, the person she had feelings for.

She'd dream of Violet sometimes, every time her eyes opened she would look for her but not see a thing through her blurry eyes and not concentrate because all of her body parts hurt so bad.

Until one day she woke up and didn't pass out again.

She opened her eyes and with time the blurriness seemed to go away, but the pain didn't stop, she was strong enough to take it and stay awake. She opened her eyes and saw people around her, people she grew to love and appreciate. People she trusted and became her home.

The first person in front of her was AJ, he smiled at her and kept talking about how much he missed her, he'd take her hand and hold it close to his chest and go on about what had happened to her.

She didn't know how she made it, she was in pain, her ankle was slashed open, and bitten, she told AJ to kill her...

The last thing she remembers was AJ swinging the axe in the air towards her then nothing...but Clementine wasn't stupid, she connected the dots and realized what had happened to her.

Her heart dropped and she weakly tried to push the covers away, everyone was around her and everyone saw what she was trying to do and they all felt bad.

"You should rest Clem..this isn't the time, not yet." Louis told her sympathetically, she merely nodded and stopped trying to see what her leg looked like without its other half.

She looked around the room again, maybe this time she'd see Violet, she wondered why she wasn't there but she thought she might be fishing or doing something and she'll be here soon. But she didn't show up.

The thought that maybe Violet died on the way back was eating away at her insides but she didn't want to even think about the possibility.

The next day rolled around with no mention of Violet from anyone and no sight of her, AJ was sitting on the floor next to Clementine's bed drawing something for her and Ruby had just finished feeding her soup, she was finally able and strong enough to talk, she didn't remember why her throat hurt her so much to the point of not talking but now she could.

As Ruby was getting ready to get up Clementine stooped her by placing her hand on her arm, Ruby looked back at her with question in her eyes.

"Vi..." Clementine said weakly and with her heart racing so bad, it was hurting her, that maybe everyone was covering up Violet's death, that maybe she was away and didn't know that Clementine made it, a lot could be going on but she had no answers. None.
