Diary of the Hidden Queen

I'm not sure why Pernilla gave me this for my birthday. As she says "I'm too emotional to function." This is obvious because well I'm a teenager. But other than that being a problem, I also have other things that I need to try to keep control of.

Pernilla is the closest thing I have to a mother, but she looks like she could be my grandma instead. Don't get me wrong, I care deeply for her. It's just unfair that I won't ever know my parents.

You see I was taken away from them a long time ago for my protection and also because it is normal for someone like me. Actually it's normal for all children to be taken away from their families in my society. The children are sent away to a school that they are at year round except for two weeks during the summer. Unfortunately I wasn't sent there. I was sent into hiding with Pernilla and a guy named Kieran.

Kieran was hired by.... Well I don't really know who hired him, but he was hired to protect me. Someone is or I guess will be after me just because I am like her. Apparently there can be only one of us for every three generations. I was born when she was ready to move into our position.

Pernilla doesn't know that I know this, but Kieran and I have a lot of alone time together when I want to get out of the house and when I have to act like a normal teen and go to school. Kieran had told me that this woman is powerful but that I can be just as if not more powerful than her. I was chosen after her, which means I have better qualities for our position. He really wouldn't elaborate more about what he said other than soon I will take my place in our society and he will always be there to protect me.
