Christmas at the Pole

Christmas. The air was crisp and cold, the fire crackled, and the spicy aroma of gingerbread filled the air. Chrstmas was regarded by most as the busiest day of the year, and here at the North Pole, the day after Christmas eve, yetis and elves rushed around to decorate for Nicholas St. North's annual Christmas party.

"Dingle!" The white-bearded Russian called urgently from the main room of the pole. Immediately, seven elves who all believed themselves to be named Dingle, rushed to his side.

"Make preparations. Is tree all decorated?"

The elves nodded, big dopey smiles plastered across their faces.

"Cookies baked?"

They nodded again.

"Lights up? Bells ringing? Presents wrapped?" North checked off his list. This year's Guardian Christmas party had to be the best one yet.

"Relax, Dear," a beautiful, slender woman with white hair piled up into a bun, placed her arm on her husband's shoulder. Unlike her husband, Mrs. Aria Claus was a lot calmer during the holidays.

"Everything will be great."

"Aria, you sure?"

"Of course, North. It always is." At that moment, golden sand filled the air, and none other than the Sandman himself flew into the workshop.

"Sandy! So glad you could make it!" North bellowed, a jolly grin on his face.

Sandy smiled warmly, and images flashed above his head; pictures of trees and lights and bells.

"You like? It's my best work," North beamed.

Sandy nodded happily, and pointed to the open window, where the Tooth Fairy had flown in, followed by three fairies.

"Oh, North, Aria- the place looks great!" Tooth zoomed over to a plate of cookies. "But really, why not mints? Cookies are chock full of sugar- bad for the teeth!" North laughed.

"Where's Jack?"

"Right here." The winter spirit had just arrived, and walked down the hall to meet the others, freezing a few elves with his staff on the way.

"Wow, North, you've really outdone yourself this year."

"Thank you, Jack! I try," North said happily. "Now, all we need it Tori and Bunny."

"Oh, I haven't seen Tori in weeks!" Aria said happily. At that moment, a rabbit hole opened next to them, and Tori leapt out.

"Tori! Where's Bunny?"

A grumpy Australian voice echoed from the rabbit hole. "I'm not comin' outta here like this."

Tori called impatiently to her son. "Bunnymund, last time you came to the Pole, you were complaining about how cold it was! You look fine."

"No I don't! I look like an idiot!"

"Bunny, you come out of that tunnel this instant." Tori said.

A groan sounded from the hole, and slowly, the Easter Bunny climbed out. North had to hold in a laugh. Instead of his usual wooden sheaths, the guardian wore a bright red sweater, with a big green Christmas tree on the front. Jack walked up to him, chuckling.

"Wow, Bunny, you look..uh-"

"Not a word, Mate," the pooka growled.

After a moment of silence, North struck the conversation up again.

"Right, then! Let's open presents!" He led the others to a massive Christmas tree that scraped the high ceiling of the main room. Every square inch was covered in lights and ornaments, and a present for each guardian sat beneath. Jack placed his presents for the others under, as did Tooth, Bunny, Aria, and Sandy. North passed around a plate piled high with cookies- gingerbread, sugar, red velvet- a steamy mug of hot chocolate for everybody, except Tooth, who politely declined and said that she would stick to breath mints instead. Chuckling, North passed out presents from him and Aria first.
