Lily said goodbye to her parents before going to platform 9 ¾. She didn’t want her mum embarrassing her by saying anything to James, and she wanted to get onto the train right away.
“Bye, Mum.” She said, giving Mrs. Evans a big hug. “I’ll miss you, see you at Christmas.”
“Goodbye, sweets. Have a great last year. Don’t forget to write... and keep our deal on the Potter boy.” Her mum said, winking.
Lilly rolled her eyes as she was handed over to her father.
“Bye, Dad. See you at Christmas.”
“Have a good time. Don’t get into any duels without my permission.”
“Right. I was going to, you know.”
Lilly waved at her parents one last time before directing herself towards the column between platforms nine and ten, and running through it to the Hogwarts express.
She dragged her trunk and owl cage over to where her friends were standing.
“Hey guys. Long time no see.” Lilly said.
Maya looked up from the book she was reading and gave a quick smile. She leaned over her trunk and gave Lilly a light hug.
“Hey, Lills. How was you sum- what did you do to your hair?”
Maya was a pretty girl with long wavy blonde hair and big blue eyes. She was always reading some sort of muggle fantasy book, and had a very quiet personality in crowds, but when she was alone with just Lilly, Harry, and Ethan, she could be extremely hyper.
Lilly laughed and twirled around. “Like it? I donated eleven inches!”
Maya looked impressed. “Wow. I would never be able to do that. It looks really nice, too. Right, guys?”
Harry and Ethan were engrossed in an argument about Quidditch, and they both looked up.
“Lilly! How was your sum- what did you do to your hair?” said Ethan.
Lilly laughed again. Maya looked at Ethan with disapproval.
“Ethan! We just went through this, like, a second ago!”
Ethan shrugged. “I was talking to Harry. Boys are supposed to be oblivious, right?”
Maya rolled her eyes.
“So, shall we go get a seat on the train? I want to find an empty one so we can sit just us.” said Lilly.
“Sure. Lets go now, before James sees you and asks you out.” Maya picked up her trunk and book and started dragging it towards to train, and Ethan and Harry followed.
Lilly hesitated, debating whether or not she should tell her friends about the deal she made with her mom. Maya stopped, realizing that Lilly was still ten feet behind her.
“You coming?” she asked.
“What? Oh, yeah.” Lilly grabbed her trunk and headed after Maya.
