It's the next day now, and I'm about to head off to my first lesson of 'Transfiguration' with Professor McGonagall. I'm walking out of Gryffindor Common Room, when Harry and Ron come up behind and proceed to walk with me to class.
"Hey, sleep well?" asked Harry, taking a quick look at me straight up and down and blushing, "wow, red and gold looks good on you."
"Thanks," I reply, with a subtle smirk, "I slept just fine, you?"
"Oh yeah great, as I said any sleep here is better than one at ho.. The Dursley's" he said, as he then looked over at Ron, who was struggling to straighten his tie. "You alright there mate?"
"Yeah, I just hate wearing a bloody tie, isn't a white shirt and jumper enough to say I'm a student?" Ron replied, knotting his tie even more.
"Here let me help.." I say, turning to face him and begin fastening his tie. "So where's Hermione this morning I thought she'd be walking to class with you guys?"
"Oh yeah, Hermione went to the library early this morning, you know.. considering it's the first day of school and we don't actually have any assignments due yet!" Harry chuckled.
"Is she always like this, with her nose stuck in a book?"
"Pretty much, that's Hermione for ya." Harry continues, as I'm finishing with Ron's tie and adjusting his collar.
"There, wasn't too hard now was it?" I posed, sarcastically.
"Thanks mum," Ron smirked sheepishly.
When we arrived at Transfiguration, Ron walked in first, followed by Harry who politely held the door open for me. As I was walking into the classroom and over to the first empty chair I spotted, I heard a deep, sharp voice beckon in my ear. "This seat's taken!". I turned to look at the beholder of this statement, he was a tall, pale boy with soft, blonde almost white hair that lay perfectly on his head and across his face. Baring a smug grin, he had placed his veined hand on the table, that I noticed was dressed with a rather large silver ring. He had huge, piercing grey eyes that focused themselves directly onto mine for a minute or two, before he continued, "find somewhere else."
Without meeting this with a response, I turned round to scan the room for another seat, when I noticed Hermione pointing at the empty space next to her and signalling me to come over and claim it. 'Well he was pleasant'. I cocked my head round to take another look at the boy, and my eyes lay directly on to his tie. 'Slytherin, makes sense', I thought to myself. "Just ignore him, we all do." Hermione said as I sat down beside her. I refocused my attention on Professor McGonagall, who thought it wise to give me a broad welcome in front of the entire class.
"Some of you may already be aware, but for those who aren't we have a new student with us this year. Skye Whiteheart." whilst saying this she gestured her hand towards me, "I should hope you'll do well to welcome her."
Throughout the remainder of that lesson, the pale boy sat a few rows back, kept a firm stare on me, only breaking every few minutes to create the impression he was focused on his work.
After class, Hermione mentioned that she needed to grab something from the common room so she left to do so. Harry and Ron met me outside the classroom. "Herbology next, want to come with us so you don't get lost?" Harry asked sweetly.
"Oh it's fine, I was gonna pop to the ladies room anyway, I'll see you there!"
As I was walking out of the bathroom and across the courtyard on my way to Herbology, a familiar voice stopped me in my tracks. The pale boy from class was leant up against a tree, giving me an eyebrow raise and side eye, "So what brings you here, Whiteheart?" he said, with that same sharp tone from before.
"I was just on my way to Herbology."
"No. I meant Hogwarts. Why join so late?"
"Oh right. Well my parents both got jobs at the Ministry so we moved, until now I was at BeauxBatons."
"I see. So Gryffindor ay?" as he said this, he took a swift look at my tie and robes with slight disgust.
"Yes, problem?"
"Not exactly, just personally I wouldn't be seen caught dead in such a pathetic house, traipsing about with those idiots."
"Who? You mean Hermione, Ron.." before I could finish he cut me off abruptly.
"And POTTAH! I despise the lot of them."
"I can see that. And who might you be exactly?" I reply, folding my arms, with a sarcastic look on my face.
"The names Malfoy.."
"Draco Malfoy?" cutting him off abruptly with equal manor.
"Yes, how'd you know that?" he said, kicking himself off the tree and walking towards me, with a stretched look of confusion.
"My father has mentioned he knows your father, well knows of your father, Lucius."
"Who's your father?"
"Aticus Whiteheart, he's an Auror, so it's kind of his job to know about people like him."
"Excuse me?!" Draco exclaimed, moving even closer towards me with a greater look of disgust.
"I didn't mean it like that. Just that your father clearly has a reputation, and it's very apparent in my father's job."
"Right." he replied, giving me a slow, peircing look up and down, as my heart rate gradually climbed in his close proximity. Just then, to my relief, I heard another familiar voice come from behind, "Skye! Come on, you don't want to be late on your first day, I got what I needed from the common room, let's go!" It was Hermione, holding a large hardback book and gesturing me to follow her leading me away from Draco.
"Coming!" I shout, hurrying off.
"See you round, Whiteheart!"
