"Why do I have the impression that you're the reason we ended up here, Plum?" I sighed.

She smiled and crossed her legs. The foot that had been in the water dripped. Plic-plic.

"Why? Because I am the one who did this!" She gloated. "I also wanted to make your two friends explain their reasons for, ahem, turning my Birthday into a gigantic game of tag." Her eyes narrowed suspiciously at them.

Oh boy.

"We figured that a birthday was no fun if a game of tag wasn't involved somehow." Toby explained, sobering up.

"So, since there were so many Spirits here, we decided that a huge game of tag throughout the entire school would be a great idea!" Jo continued.

"Is. That. So?" Plum's fake smile could have killed a raging bear.

"Yeah." the duo replied, completely unconscious of their imminent danger.

Well, they are my friends, so I really should try to keep them alive. And it's no fun to be able to say your girlfriend killed your two best friends. No fun at all. In fact, one might even say that it was horrible. So, probably stopping a murder a few seconds before it happened, I hopped into the conversation.

"Plum~? I know that you're irritated, but you should just ignore them. Think of them as two leaves in the wind. Soon enough, they will be out of your life forever." I appeased her.

"That is a good way of saying it. However, Craft, that would mean that you are but a leaf as well. A simple flick of time that I will forget." She frowned.

Great. Now she was angry at me.

"The best things that happen in our lives are barely more than a moment buried under years. But it is a moment we cherish and that we regard fondly upon all our lives."

Man, I actually said something cool. That's rare.

Toby and Jo seemed to think the same; they were giving me this odd look. They were just standing there, in the water next to me, looking a thousand miles away.

"Aww~ That's so romantic of you Craft!" She trilled. She put both feet on the water and stood up gracefully. Each step she took towards me sent ripples over the pool. When she stood before me, she bent her head, looking down. Her black hair shone healthily and she smelled like flowers and fresh air. She kneeled on the water, her head now as high as mine was, and she smiled. Her smile made her clear skin wrinkle around her eyes.

Beautiful. Eternal. Ephemeral.

A waterfall of never-ending life and content beauty.

"Would you like to eat some cake with me? I have a small birthday cake that a friend of mine made."

"I'd love to. Its your birthday, is it not?"

That endless, tiny moment was ruined by Toby and Jo booing.

"Get a room, geez!"

"Yuck. They were about to kiss, I'm sure they were."

"You two act like a bunch of little kids!" I yelled alongside Plum.

"Absolutely correct. And we will always be little kids for as long as we live."

"Amen to that, Jo," Toby nodded.
