“ i'm 100% sure one of them is gonna come to the office and search for me. i just know it ” you told, sighing. siyeon glanced at you, wondering what exactly occurred at your house.

she learned you weren't the type to get upset easily at something. so the fact that you left the house, it must have been something big.

though she didn't have the will to ask, in case it was something that would bother you.

but like she learned years ago, you weren't the kind to get yourself stuck in a matter. usually, you just straight up solve it. maybe it was a different thing about it involve your family.

“ it's gonna be sooyoung, i tell you goddamn it ” you mumbled as you drove your car into a parking section behind the building.

you seldom use the parking and would just park in front of the damn building. you finished parking and turn to your friend. “ can you stay inside? i just need to tell the guard something ” you smiled when siyeon nod.

you exited your car and looked around, in case if there are any ‘unfamiliar’ faces at the parking. fortunately, it just other people who work there. okay, no sooyoung. and of no those kids.

you jogged to the building and went through as the automatic sliding door opened for you. the coldness of the air conditioner hit you in the face as you look for a certain guard.

finally, you spot his black, scruffy jacket with the large ‘GUARD’ words embodied at the back of it, who stood near the coffee machine.

top with a black jet cap, his eyes that wandered around the lower floor for any suspicious activity.

“ taeil! hey! ” you called out, practically yelling at him. taeil immediately turned to you when he heard his name.

he smiled cause he recognizes you. well, who wouldn't recognize the most friendly person?

“ is there something you need, my friend? ” taeil teased, wiggling his eyebrows in a teasing manner. you glared at the nickname and him. you punched him near his rib as he yelped and defended his body.

“ ouch! how are you so strong! ” taeil pouted. you glared at him and then looked around again.

you gestured him to lean in. “ if any of my sisters, especially sooyoung comes, tell them i took days off ” you whispered and taeil nod.

“ sure. but why tho? you usually don't care if they come to search you ” taeil crumpled his eyebrows. you snickered, “ family issues. anyway, just do that for me okay? i'll come back if i manage to solve everything out ”

taeil salute as he watches you ran out of the building and disappeared. he went back to the vending machine, keeping eyes on suspicious movement.

a few minutes after you left, sooyoung came in, and taeil immediately recognized her. she went to him as she knows that he knows you well.

“ have you seen jiyeon? did she come to work today? ” she asked and taeil can tell she was genuinely worried. but he can't go against your request.

“ nope. she hasn't come today. heard that she took days off because of personal issues. is there something going on? ” taeil furrowed his eyebrow. damn, he's a good actor when sooyoung frowned and thanked him before she left.

“ was she there? ” yerim asked as sooyoung entered the car. the older shakes her head and yerim sighed in disappointment. “ i'm sure she would have gone to work,, ” sooyoung noticed the gloomy expression yerim wore.

“ hey, it's not your fault. she will come back when she's ready ” sooyoung told, trying to cheer up the girl.

“ we all know that but when? ” jungeun asked but the two didn't answer. jungeun's lips formed a thin line as she felt bad for asking that.

heejin stared at the gold card in her small hand. neither her nor yerim had used it after you had left.

it has been several weeks and heejin was starting to miss you. she didn't really use the card except for yerim but the younger girl hadn't asked for it.

but now she was staring at it, contemplating whether she should use it or not. she forgot to bring her money and the gold card was her only option. the cashier eyed her, the silence between them was real.

“ uh, we do accept debit or credit card,” she told, and heejin just nod.

should i use it?  heejin squeezes her lips together before facing the cashier and handing her the golden card.

the cashier swiped the card and nod. she took the receipt and hand it back to heejin along with the card.

“ come again! ” the woman behind the counter told as heejin pushed the door and exited the shop.

she walked back to her house, jinsoul greeting her upon entering. the house had been a bit quiet than usual. yeojin wouldn't make a mess and just stay in her room with yerim.

chaewon would no longer make a mess and stay away from the kitchen. hyunjin hadn't skip school at all for the last two weeks. jungeun sleeps later than her usual time.

“ have you seen hyejoo? she hasn't come back home since this monday ” haseul asked, worried if something had happened to hyejoo. she would go insane if something bad occurred to one of her sisters.

“ hyejoo said she's staying at a friend's house. probably taking stuff off her mind ” hyunjin told and haseul sighed in relief. she looked around and frowned at the sight of yeojin sleeping on the couch, yerim doing her homework and hyejoo not being home.

this house feels so empty now. haseul scratch her neck, not knowing how to cheer them up.  she admitted it so many times that she misses you more than anything and everyone in the house would agree even if they don't want to.
