**Hello all! I'm very excited because this is the first time I ever really put any of my writing out there. When I was younger I published some poems online, but that was about it. More than anything I would love honest and constructive feedback. Love it? Hate it? Why? Here goes nothing :)**
***Okay finally going to give this story a real shot (5/24/14)***
It was the glazed look in his eyes; in that precise moment she truly saw the Beast that he was.
Time froze as she remembered. The first time she laid eyes on him she was instantly attracted, he was dressed casually, but nothing could hide the rugged features of a hard working man. She had wanted to talk to him, but her shyness got the best of her. It really bothered her when she thought she might not see him again so she seized an opportunity to talk to him. Those two years before their wedding were no hint at what her life would be after. He had been kind, sweet, interesting, and always attentive to her, but the very day they wed- it all changed. During the honeymoon they fought incessantly. She worried it wasn't normal, but simply attributed it to their adjusting to living together. Now, two years after their blissful wedding, he could no longer contain himself and she saw the truth.
The rain fell violently all around their house. She stared in the mirror ignoring the wind that blew outside; on and off the strong currents loudly shook the leaves off the trees. She glanced momentarily to watch as they fell. That tree had been dying since they arrived there. It had lost its green vibrancy in a few short weeks. Just like the newness of their love, except it faded more gradually, reluctantly. He fought it. She fought it. Yet nature is very difficult to fight against.
Beasts were never happy and never could be. They were unhappy being alone, but finding a partner was not better. In time the Beast would be ruined, but their loved one's very existence would be most affected. Beasts sucked the life out of them. Literally. This was detrimental not only to the partner, but to the Beast as well because of one detail: beauty. Beasts were very keen on the importance of beauty in their partners. Ironically, the longer the Beast stayed the more lifeless and ugly their once attractive partner became- and the Beast would grow, in time, more aggressive and angry.
This time was no different, but Irina had discovered it in time. Unlike countless of others who had only seen the Beast when their life was seconds away from ending.
It would seem as if her life would have the same conclusion as all others that had fallen in love with a Beast, but she would not be another, even when at that very moment she could see in his eyes that the Beast could barely contain his urge to end her life.
