Please ignore how absolutely cringy these first few chapters are. My writing and plots improve later, I promise.
I lived in Paris. The city of love. And I was still alone. Romantically, of course. I still had my pack. But I was an unmated Omega.
"Max? Are you out here?" a strong, feminine voice. That was one of the Alphas of my pack, Kai. She had walked out onto the balcony of our giant house. She wore a pair of jean shorts and a purple crop-top.
"Yeah," I sighed, "I'm here."
She gave me a small smile. She hadn't really smiled in weeks, ever since the 'problem' began. "Come on inside, we gotta talk. And before you panic, it's not just you, it's the whole pack......well almost the whole pack..." She mumbled the last part. I followed her inside, listening for the pad of her bare feet, even though I knew there was no way I would have heard it. Silent, small, Alpha.
Almost the whole pack was in the living room, Laura, Izzy, Zero, and Liam on one couch, Diana, Sky, Liz and Caleb on the floor, Mallorie and Zach on the loveseat, and Cole in one of the armchairs. I sat in one of the other armchairs while Kai stood in the front of the room, even with three other Alphas in the room, she was the unspoken leader.
"Ok. We all know that-" She began but I cut her off.
"Where is he? You said the whole pack, where is he?" I said quickly, trying to keep my emotions under control. Why wouldn't she have him here? He meant so much to the pack, he was the fifth Alpha for fucks sake.
"He's why we're meeting," Kai said, her voice steely, though her eyes and stance showed sympathy towards me and worry for the other Alpha. "Can I continue?"
I swallowed, my saliva felt so thick it could choke me. "Yes, sorry."
"We all know that Luke's problem is affecting us all. He's at the moment about to go into a full-blown rut. We all know that there are only a few options to fix this." Her eyes flicked to me, momentarily. "He could find a mate outside of the pack. Or he could take a mate from the pack." Eyes to me again. "Or we could let him ignore the problem and possibly tear the pack apart. We have to decide what to do. I pass the floor" She said with a sigh, using the system we had created, (She, or another Alpha, would bring an issue before the group, and then someone else would go up and talk and so on until we were ready to make a decision) and sat down on the arm of Cole's chair. Liam stood up and went to the front.
"Obviously, he has to get a mate, and we all know he wants an Omega. We have an unmated Omega. Why not set them up?" Zero and Izzy voiced their agreement, but Laura shot up. Liam sat down and let the Beta have the floor.
"You can't force a relationship on them! It's not fair to either of them!" My knuckles went white from gripping the arms of my chair. I say Kai and Cole look at each other like they had already talked about this. Sky stood and took the floor.
"While I agree with Laura, can we really handle another pack member? Last I counted we had five Alphas, five Betas, and four Omegas. We can't handle anymore." Zero stood and took the floor.
"Exactly. Sky's right. We can't handle anymore. I say we grab Max and shove him into Luke's room right now." Chaos broke out. Diana and Laura leaped up and started yelling at Zero, Caleb and Liam started fighting. Zach and Mallorie started yelling at Diana and Laura, Izzy curled in on herself, Cole lept in and tried to break up the fighting Alphas, and Kai instinctually put herself as a literal human shield in front of me.
A loud, deep growl made everyone freeze. Kai was gaping at the stairs across the room. At the top was a shirtless Luke. His lips curled in a snarl. Hair damp with sweat. I blushed, but it was blocked out with a thought, He's in a rut. And there are so many scents down here. Omega scents, Unmated, unclaimed, Omega scents. He sniffed the air picking up on a particular scent. My scent. His eyes clashed with mine, fierce and lustful.
