Love Is Not Impossible

I was beginning to give up on the idea of love. It was too hard for me to find someone who i didnt have to fight for. Jalaya had her eyes on Leo, but for some reason, everytime i thought of him id feel a heavy sensation in my heart. Something i felt with Tommy but lost over realization that it may never happen. I walked into writing class as the bell rang, i sit myself next to Tommy and Leo.

"Whats up you guys, I dont want to be nosy but is there anyone you may have your eyes on?" I ask embarressed.

"If your looking for an answer of YOU. then-"

"NO." I cut off Tommy "Not me of course." I fake a smile and feel my chest pounding.

"Well Iris, you are an amazing friend and I just want to adress something." i nod to his speaking. "I dont like anyone. And i wont date anyone. Middle school relationships are dumb. Im sure Leo can agree." Leo nods and looks down.

"Oh, okay thats all i really wanted to know." My eyes shifted to Leos, we lock eyes for a second and then glance away.

After the awkward class, I run to go check on Amiyah and walk to art with her. Today, her smile was beaming and bright. I asked her why she was so happy.

"Ive made up my mind! Im going to ask out Tommy before graduation this week!" Amiyah squeeled.

"Amiyah- Are you sure?" I was debating on telling her that Tommy isn't interested.

"Yes. Someone DMed me last night saying he had feelings for me." I began to wonder if Tommy was lying to me, and if he actually did have those feelings.

"Well... You go ahead and do it. If it works out, Ill be happy for you." I say with a fake smile. Amiyah squeels and scurries down the hall.

In art, Leo and Jalaya sit beside eachother. Throwing yarn across the table and laughing. Reality was starting to hit me, these guys dont like me. They play with my heart for a reaction. I sat beside them and felt like a third wheel.

"Hey Iris!" Leo and Jalaya say.

"Hey guys, whats the workload for the day?" i ask.

"Partner work. Groups of 3 design an animal made of yarn. Want to join the trio?" Leo asks with a smile.

"Of cours-... I mean, dont you want Tommy?" I couldnt let myself get wind up in his feelings trap again.

"No Iris, he's got Amiyah and Sevan on his hands. Dont want to bud in with that." Leo proclaims.

"I guess your right" And there I realized. These boys were tearing us apart. 2 girls to Tommy, 2 for Leo. Of course unintentionally, but someone was going to get hurt in the ending outcomes. or maybe all of us.

We begin the project, as Jalaya gets the yarn i stay back with Leo and ask him about what he likes to do. He started showing me with spare pieces of yarn how he learned to braid. As a girl, i was embaressed he knew before me.

"Something Ive found to be entertaining is braiding. I learned a few days ago and i cant stop."

"Thats nice! Sadly I cant braid..." His eyes widen to my reply.

"No way, i have to teach you now. Come here." He motions me to come next to him. "First, you grab this strand, and you put it over one of them. They take turns. This one gets a turn... and this one gets a turn." He repeated the process to me. "Now its your turn." I blush and grab a strand as he motions my hand to pull a piece of yarn over the other.

"Like this?" I say.

"Yes, perfect." He smiles. I purposfully mess up so he can help correct me. I smile and thank him. He looks into my eyes and i look into his.

"Leo, I think i-"

"Im back! Were going to make... A DINOSAUR. My favorite!" Jalaya yells.

"Sick! Lets do this." Leo turns to Jalaya and agrees.

I sigh and begin arranging the colors for the dinosaur. There goes my chance to say how i felt. But at the same time, as soon as Jalaya talked, we fell out of the moment we were in. He was sucked back into her world and personally i feel hes stuck between which one he wants to live.
