*The story will now take place on the same morning but elsewhere*
One crisp and breezy summer morning in the home of Rose Potter, she awoke with joy in her heart. She had sprung out of bed the moment the first light of the day appeared. The 10-year old was full of light and usually couldn't be sad even if she wanted to. She changed out of her pajamas and into clothes to play in for the day.
Her home was shared by her caretaker, Remus Lupin, who had been the official guardian for her ever since she was dropped off by Hagrid after her parents had died at the hands of the Dark Lord(Voldemort). The small cottage, isolated in a beautiful meadow with thousands of flowers and surrounded by small creeks filled with the freshest water you could ever taste.
From the outside, the cottage was a wondrous sight. It has been built with walnut wood and trimmed with spruce wooden decorations. Tall, rounded windows added to the overall style of the house, having been added to the house in a mostly asymmetric way. The house is equipped with a small kitchen and one large bathroom, a cozy living room, three bedrooms, a snug dining area, a lounge area, and a roomy garage.
The building is fairly rounded in shape. The house was surrounded by cloth screens.
The second floor was smaller than the first, which allowed for several balconies on the sides of the house. This floor has a slightly different style than the floor below. The roof was quite high and triangular, while one side was longer than the other and covered with brown wood shingles. One small chimney sat at the side of the house. The house itself was surrounded by paved bricks, with an outdoor eating and relaxing space, decorated with various potted plants.Rose loved the house and has always been grateful for everything that Remus had given her. A smile was always planted on her face from the joy of being safe and loved in a beautiful home. She ran down the stairs of the cottage and started making breakfast enough for two people.
"Alright. Eggs, sausage, fruit....and what else....?" Rose listed the food items she would prepare while getting out the ingredients, "Oh, yes of course!"
She then went to the pantry and pulled out the waffle mix to use for breakfast. She immediately started preparing the food and brewed some tea for herself and Remus.
Footsteps came down the stairs and Rose immediately knew who it was.
"Uncle Remus is that you?" she called while stirring the waffle batter.
"Yes it is me...my goodness Rose, you really are quite the hostess," Remus exclaimed calmly.
"Thank you, Uncle Remus. How are you feeling? Are you still sore?"
"Oh, no-no. I am alright darling." Remus lied to keep Rose from worrying.
He walked into the kitchen to take a few pills(pain killers for werewolves) before immediately helping Rose himself.
Remus was actually quite the cook and he taught Rose everything he knew. He began working on the sausage while Rose was making a batch of waffles in their waffle maker.
A while later they had finished preparing everything and had sat down to eat in the dining room. Rose talked about a peculiar experience from the day before.
"So, Rose, what did you do in the garden yesterday? I heard you talking to someone..." Remus asked while helping Rose and himself to some fruit.
"Who- oh yeah! There were some pretty butterflies yesterday. I talked to them about some things and.... they seemed to be listening." Rose explained.
"They could understand you? Rose are you sure-"
"Yes, Uncle. They really did. They all perched together in my hands and just sat there while I spoke. It felt nice to be able to talk with something in the way that you and I talk to each other."
"I see. That is wonderful my darling. Really is fascinating..." Remus trailed off before speaking again. "Rose, could you grab me some parchment and an envelope.....I need to send a letter to someone.."
"Yes, Uncle. Of course."
Rose ran off for a moment and came back with cream-colored parchment, a quill, and some ink. Remus thanked her before sending her to play in the garden while he concentrated on writing the mystery letter.
Rose came back inside the house to grab a bucket when she saw a glimpse of the name "Albus Dumbledore" in the contents of the letter Remus had written before sealing it and sending it immediately to the sender through a special object apparating spell he had taught himself.
She remained quiet for the rest of the day, wondering who Dumbledore was and why her Uncle was writing a letter to him.
a few hours later...
After a few hours, Remus decided to take Rose out to a zoo in London. He figured she had spent so much time isolated that she should be able to see the world, a little bit at a time. So with that, the two of them packed a bag full of things they'd need and took off for the day.
