It all started on a cool spring day, when I decided to take the SM Entertainment Global Auditions. I didn't know what happened, but I ended up making it to the last round. Sitting on a bench outside the SM building, wearing skinny jeans and a white blouse, I dial a number on my phone. *ring ring* *ring ring* "Hello?" "Mom?" I try to control my shaky voice. "Sweetie! How did it go? Did you get in? How was everything?" I take a deep breath and tell my mom the news. "Oh sweetie! I knew you would succeed!" I could hear my mother's sobs through the phone. It has been just us two for around 14 years since my parents thought it would be a better idea to go their own ways. I never knew clearly what was going on since I was young, but at the age of 17, I understood enough. "Aw, mom, thanks," I reply. We decided to meet up at a sushi place for lunch, since I had to tell her about my contract and yada yada yada. My mom asked me for the 12th time (and counting) if I really wanted to live my life as an idol. I certainly knew that becoming a kpop idol was not an easy thing. Bonebreaking hours of dancing, dieting, and singing. But I made a firm decision a year ago. Nothing was going to change my mind. Or so I thought.
