I sighed with relief as we walked out of the court room, followed by Jason who was under lock and key. Annabeth was talking to Piper and I heard a sentence that made me smile: "We finally beat that asshole." My head throbbed and even though I tried to hide the pain I'm sure Nico could tell and it was killing him, I knew it. Finally he pulled me to the side. "What's wrong?" He demanded. "Nothing, just a headache." I lied through my teeth to him. I remember the doctor's appointment that changed my life...
But I gave him a small smile to reassure him that I was fine when I wasn't. He nodded believing the lie. "Okay." He said and turned to keep talking to our other friends.
I slipped into my mom's car and she could see the pain reading across my face. "Radiation isn't working Perce! You really need to go into chemo." "No! No mom please!" I said. She knew I didn't want Nico to know. "Percy, you need to be treated and you need to tell Nico at some point." "But I don't want him to carry it around." My mom shot me a look from the driver's seat. "Ok. Just give me a week."
