RITUAL

*Y/N POV*

"but before we start the ritual , i need you all to swear secrecy . you must promise to never repeat what happens tonight" said ashley "what's going on happen?" asked coby  "your going to make an offering to the power , and if its accepted you'll be granted a gift" said ashley "whoa! , so you mean the twins will get a superpower, too!? like telekinesis? or heat vision?" asked cody  "something like that" said ashley smiling  "ashley can we all join too?" i asked , ashley looks amused "you actually want to?" asked ashley "sure! the stronger we all are , the better chance we have of beating that thing in the lake, right?" i said "in a perfect world , yes" said ashley  "unfortunately , rites take time to prepare . we only have coby's and cory's ready because we are going to induct them at the end of summer" said ashley "let's deal with the present threat first , if the rest of you want to jin us , we can discuss it later" said ashley

tyler nods towards the water , and you all turn to find a yacht gliding out of the fog . hodded figures line the rails like raven "shall we?" asked ashley  "after you" i said , ashley, coby and cory start down the dock , you all exchange careful glances and then follow them . You all climb aboard , and the yacht sets sail , drifting through the fog so thick you can't even see the shore.Few minutes later , the hooded members gather on the deck , kevin steps through the crowd , smiling at the twins with a set of fresh robes "hello boys! how are you guys feeling? i know this must all seem very strange and scary" said kevin "we're kinda scared" said cory "and..nervous" added coby  ashley places her hands on the twin's shoulder "there's still time to back out . we won't be upset if you decide you can't do this" said ashley  "i don't even know what this is!" said coby "don't worry mom we'll do it" said cory "you have to say few words , and make a small sacrifice to the power" said kevin "when you say 'sacrifice'..." said cory , the twins glance toward the rest of you , alarmed . kevin and ashley break out laughing "oh god no , nothing like that!" said kevin "it's just tiny prick of your finger , dear" said ashley  "so what happens after that?" i asked "if the power rejects them , nothing" said kevin  "but if it accepts them , they'll be given a gift . and a responsibility to use it" said ashley  , across the deck the the cult ranks apart to reveal chief chris . he clears his throat  "it's time boys , you ready?" asked chris "um..." coby looks at you for guidance , you take a step closer "guys...no matter what you choose, what you do , i'm always here for you" you said ,the twins smile "thanks y/n , your the best" coby whispers , the twins take a deep breath and turn their face to chief chris "we're ready" said cory "then step forward , ashley takes kevin's hand , the cult members stare down from the rails . you all watch as the twins join chris at the prow of the ship "coby cotton and cory cotton are you prepared to join our society(name of the cult), and bind yourself to the power that lives beneath?" asked chris " i am " said coby "iam " said cory  , chris  reaches into his cloak and produces something , your friends converse in hushed voices "what is that thing?" asked garr "i have no idea" said cody "it's called marlinspike . old nautical tool . they're used for doing things with ropes and knots . tying,cutting,splicing together.." said tyler "so what are the twins going to splice?" asked garret . the marlinspike's sharpened point glitters in the moonlight as the twins take it from chief chris , along with a slip of folded paper "what are we supposed to do?" asked cory "hold the spike out over the water and recite the words on that paper . When you read the last line , prick the tip of your finger with the point of the spike , then drop it" said chris "that's it!?" asked coby  , chris silently motions them to the rail .

They walk to the rail of the ship and start reading  "THE POWER OF THE ANCIENT TREES.....I COME TO THEE IN SUPPLICATION?" said the twins . their voices echo through the lake " POWER OF THE EARTH AND STONE..I SEEK TO FORM A CONVENANT" orange lights burn brightly ,  casting strange shapes in the silvery clouds all around you "POWER OF THE FLAME AND SHADOWS, I HUMBLY ASK TO BE YOUR VESSEL....MAKE ME ONE WITH THE TREES....WITH EARTH AND STONE.... WITH FLAME AND SHADOW....MAKE ME THE ONE WITH POWER" as the final words leave the twin's lips the marlinspike rips from their grasp , shooting into the water like a dart! , and from beneath the boat , a blue-green light begin to grow , as the light subsides, the twins meet your eyes , their face shinning with wonder "guys how do you feel?" i asked "we feel REALLY GOOD" they said "the power has accepted them!" said chris with a smile on his face , their parents step forward and take them into a tight hug "tomorrow is lake day festival! and also a really special day for the boys" said ashley 

but things don't always go as planned........
