There was once an man. This man was a man of the seas, an sailor, and every day and every night he would stroll down to the pier and fish. This man loved fishing, it was his second-most passion besides the width of the seas and nothing was to stop him from this daily routine.

But one day was different. An seagull had nested near the pier and was also having an piece of the cake. The sailor did not mind at first; "There's enough fish for everyone in these waters!", he thought. Days passed and the sailor continued his fishing and the gull continued as well. But one gray day, when the clouds lay low and the fog was dense, the fish had started to become sparse, there was just not enough for them both to share!

The sailor thought nothing of this and continued fishing as usual, but the gull was an greedy one. It would fly by the sailors rod and snatch his newly catched fish to spare itself the trouble of looking for fish itself.

The sailor thought nothing of it and just continued fishing in his orderly manner as usual. But then the gull got even more bold and started to mock the sailor each time it snatched an fish, laughing it's ugly laugh and flying away to it's nest.

"This was nothing", the sailor thought. But one after each fish that the gull stole, it became worse: It would dive closer, snatch harder and laugh louder until, finally, it grabbed the sailors rod and tore it from his hands, dropping it into the depths of the seas. Oh and it laughed and laughed and laughed and as it laughed it's ugly laugh, the sailor grew even more infuriated at this bird. It had crossed the line!

The sailor marched home, the gull's laugh echoing from it's nest. He was to have his revenge.

As the sailor arrived at his home he thought of an plan. He had one of those fishes which sing when activated on his wall. His plan was set in motion.

He tore the fish from it's wooden plate coated it in super-glue he then grabbed his other fishing rod and headed back towards the pier. The gull sat in it's nest and saw the man approach; "Back for more?", it thought. The man threw his trap into the water, sat down and started fishing again.

The gull prepared for it's next meal and flew over towards the man, circulating over his had and laughing it's laugh tauntingly towards the sailor.

The sailor ignored the bird and continued fishing, eventually catching his elaborate trap. As he started to reel in his fish, the gull dived intending to steal his catch.

The sailor smiled as he had caught his trap.

The gull caught the trap in it's claws, and as it tried to fly away, it was weighed down by this astonishingly heavy fish.

It plummeted towards the water in record speed, creating an large splash as it hit the water. It shrieked and shrieked as it could not get airborne; the fish was too heavy and it's recent meal weighed it's belly down as well.

Oh the sailor laughed and laughed and laughed as the gull had been caught in it's trap and as he had his revenge.

"He laughs best who laughs last!", the sailor exclaimed and dived down to free the bird, both parting ways and never to see each other again.

The bird had learned it's lesson and he his. That It is safer to know one's guest before offering hospitality.
