" How much longer will it take?" Said an impatient voice. It sounded like a man's voice. I slowly opened my eyes and sat up. There were two men, one was wearing a suit and tie and the other was in a white coat. They didn't hear me and kept talking.
"We can't rush these things Kitamura"! The man in the white coat whisper yelled.
I shifted and it was like some mental alarm went off. Quickly the man in the suit turns around and stares at me. He says something under his breath, and I hear the door click shut. Now I was alone in the room with the man.
" So you've finally woken up. My name is Kitamura Takeshi and from now on I'll be your trainer." He smiled And continued." Your Japanese show fighter number is one hundred and thirty two."
Japanese? Takeshi went over to the dresser in the corner of the small room and pulled out a small bundle of light blue and white clothing. He handed it to me " get dressed, i'll be outside in the hall come out when you're done."
And then he left. For a minute I was stunned . What did he mean that I'm a show fighter? How did I end up in Japan? Takeshi was waiting outside and as soon as I closed the door he started walking down the hallway towards another door. Heput his hand on the door knob and stopped for a second.
" Stick close and don't talk." He opened the door and there were dozens of reporters that immediately swarmed around us, their cameras flashing at a tremendous speed. I stuck close to him hoping that they wouldn't see me.
" How does Oyama feel about you having a new competitor?"
Who's Oyama?
"Can you tell us when the new competitor starts competing?"
Competitor?
" Look everyone, there's a girl behind him!"
Their attention was now fixed on me. They swarmed around me separating me from Takeshi.
" How do you feel?"
"Can you tell us your name?"
"Are you the new competitor?"
I tried to keep up with him but with them surrounding me I couldn't.
Takeshi turned around and pushed his way through the crowd. He grabbed my arm and pulled me through the crowd that seemed to grow with every second that went by.
" No comment!" He said sternly as we headed towards a black car with dark tinted windows. The reporters following us. We reached the car and Takeshi quickly hurried me inside and climbed in after me. As soon as we were both seated the car took off leaving the dozens of reporters with us.
"We're heading to the training facility so you can start right away tomorrow morning."
" Maybe now you could explain what's going on?" I asked just a little of a whisper.
He sighed in frustration. " Your name is Fukuhara Naomi and-"
Who does this guy think he is?
" My name is Myra Bonner, NOT Fukuhara Naomi!"
Takeshi turned and looked me straight in the eye and reached over and slapped me hard across the face. All I could do was stare back stunned as I pushed back tears.
" Your name is now Fukuhara Naomi and these kinds of outbursts will not be tolerated!"
He sat back in his seat and continued. " You probably don't remember but me and some of my employees salvaged you from the nine eleven terrorists attack" I did remember. The ear splitting sound of the plain crashing. The feeling of falling and panic as I was crushed under the debris. The intense pain. And being carried away.
I must've had a painful expression because he was now looking at me with a concerned look.
" I saved you. Now your bones are infused withTitanium. Your strength and capabilities are enhanced too. A man named Araki Ken, his rank is ninety nine."
" But my number is one hundred thirty two. Isn't that a big jump if I'm a beginner?"
He looked over and I could see a small smile. " Yes, it is but I believe you can do it."
The car started to slow down and we came to a halt. When we got out there were no reporters, just a young man, and a building that was made of shimmering glass. The young man's hair was blood red, his skin was a deep tan, Hair covered the left side of his face. He looked a little older than me. I saw him look at me, he made a puzzling face and quickly looked away. He was looking at the bright pink handprint on my face. Takeshi gently placed his hand on my shoulder, oblivious to what had just happened and guided me inside. The young man followed but didn't come closer than an arm's length away. When we were inside Takeshi took his hand off my shoulder and whispered something to the young man and was gone.
"Follow me." He said without looking back.
We walked in silence down a brightly lit hallway to a door that stood at the end.
We entered a room filled with equipment.
" This is where you will train from now on. You'll start tomorrow at six o'clock. Takeshi will come and get you the first day, but if you're late any other day."
He paused as if there was something he didn't want to tell me.
" There will be a punishment in order."
He turned around and for a split second I saw the part of his face that was covered. I saw silver colored mechanical parts and wire surrounded by his torn skin. Was he a cyborg? We entered the hallway again and turned the corner.
" My name is Oyama Hisoka." he said tensely.
Was this the Oyama the reporters were asking about? I wonder if he compet-".
" I don't compete anymore, but i'll be helping you train."
He chuckled under his breath. " Takeshi was very excited to start your training! That's all he's talked about for the last four months!"
Four months? Was I asleep that long? We stopped in front of another door.
" This is your room."
And then he was gone and I was alone in the hallway. I turned the door knob and headed inside my new quarters. The room had blue walls, but everything else was the color white. I walked over to the bed and saw a cute stuffed panda. All of the thoughts in my head were starting to let their presence be known. I fell onto the bed, grabbed the panda, I took a deep breath and snuggled with it.
I sighed. " This is getting very complicated!"
