"Come on, Solis! We're gonna be late!"
"IM COMING, LUNA, HOLD ON TO YOUR SCALES"
The sound of my claws scrambling against the stone echoed down the hallway.
"We were going to be late!" I thought.
The one night a year we can actually leave the cave to meet our friends without an escort. Mostly because there is no one to stop us. All the adult dragons are at the ceremony to crown the new ruler of our tribe, Queen Dairlyn the Silent. She got her name on account of being an Ex. Assassin.
"SOLIS!!" Luna shouted from down the hallway. I quickened my pace, even flapped my wings a bit to help me move faster. She finally came into view. We both shut our snouts so the adults wouldn't here us as we passed by. We reached the balcony at the same time.
"OUCH, that's my tail you lizard. Were you daydreaming about Abraxas?" she said with a smile.
"Shut up, Luna, your just jealous you don't have a future mate yet."
"For the last time, he isn't your future mate."
"You never know" I said, climbing onto the balcony railing, ready to take off. Beside me, Luna did the same. We launched into the sky. A few minutes later I saw the landmark and set down.
"You know, I wish we could just fly to the spot instead of walking the last few miles." Luna complained
"If you wanna get knocked out by the others because they think you're a stray adult, be my guest" I said smiling slyly over my shoulder. Luna huffed and we began our walk. When we arrived at the hangout spot, Luna disappeared to find her friends. As looked around the small
beach, I saw all the dragonets playing games and roasting marshmallows. But before I could look for Abraxas, the fire went out. The dragonets closest started to back away, looking confused. There was a large FWOOSH as the fire lit up again. But something was different; the fire was blue and in the shape of a head.
No one moved. We were too scared. The fire dragon blinked to life. Then he spoke.
"My name is Vokr, and I am in search of a dragonet." Vokr said. "She will have snow white scales, with two ebony tear shaped scales, one by each eye."
All the other dragonets looked at my scales, beginning to back away. Some even took flight and hovered. And I knew why.
Vokr continued. "I need her help to save my Queen. If you are here, please, speak now." He looked forward expectantly. Then, after a pause, looked downcast. I felt horrible, but I couldn't move. Finally, I strangled out "M-me?"
The fire dragon's head snapped up. "I don't know. My Queen Zyrry said to seek the dragon of snow with ebony tears" He said.
"My name is Solis, but I don't know if I can help you." I asked.
"Can you please try?"
The sorrow in his voice made my heart wrench. I sighed
"I'll try and help you" I said.
Vokr smiled, and his face disappeared from the flames as it turned back to orange. The flapping of wings nearby told me why. Vokr landed a stone's throw away from me.
"Have you been here this whole time?" I squeaked.
"I can teleport." He said with a smile. He turned around and jumped into the air, looking over his shoulder, inviting me. I unfurled my wings and joined him.
