miley stared down at her bruised fists, her heaved breaths raking through the cold air. moments of silence passed by, watching as the boy across from her took assertive steps in her direction. before she could even breath out a syllable, she was roughly lifted by her collar for a brief second before being slammed into the brick wall behind her. she coughed out in pain, hands reaching to relieve the pain.
"next time you want to go head to head with me, i suggest you be more prepared. watch your back." the boy spat, miley only grinning cockily in response.
"well maybe you should watch your own." she choked back, causing him to scowl. he dropped her rather roughly, walking off with his hands in his bruised hands in his pockets. the female slowly sank down, stunned. that fight was way more intense that time. both parties were left with bruises and cuts everywhere. it was more of an even fight, but miley did not have that much good endurance. she could only fight for so long, which led to her downfall.
she couldn't tell how much time passed by, but it had been quite some time. she only came back to reality when she heard a voice call out to her.
"oh my god, miley? is that you?" miley only snickered in response, raising a lazy hand to wave at the voice that seemed hazy to her.
"heyyyy~" she cooed, the footsteps approaching closer. her eyes opened, glancing at the boy who bent down to her level.
"don't tell me.. adrien? again?" he tilted his head, miley nodding ecstatically.
"oh, oh nooooo... why would you ever think that, eric?" she snorted with sarcasm, shrugging her shoulders as if it wasn't a big deal. eric hadn't been too much of a close friend of miley, but they had talked a few times. they were in a few classes together. they had history and math. they complained together in math, and gushed in history. they had few interactions, but miley wished they had more. eric was cool. the only thing is that he was best friends with adrien. besides that, he was pretty clear on miley's radar.
eric rolled his eyes, a still playful smile on his face. he grabbed mileys's arm and wrapped it around around his shoulder. shaking his head, he slowly stood, trying to help miley up as well. it was a slow process, but she eventually got on her feet.
"well, maybe it was because adrien came to class all banged up, and i had to assume he got into another quarrel with his 'arch nemesis'. so naturally, i went to go see if you were beat up too. surprise, surprise. you're here."
"aww, you skipped your lunch period to check in on me? see, i personally think you should be my best friend. ditch adrien." she sneered, eric huffing in protest.
"we'll see. i'm not sure how adrian would feel about it, though." miley considered it a win.
♥︎
"there you go, sit there." the kind boy ushered, pushing miley onto the school's comfy cots. surprisingly, their school had money. the cots felt like comfy beds. kids would fake injuries, or even make injuries to just lay down on the comfort of the mattress. she didn't blame them, though. she would attempt it too, but she knew better.
stumbling onto the cot, she let out an exhausted huff. miley clutched her stomach, which seemed to ache and hurt less now. having a nicer place to rest seemed to work in her favor. it was nice. eric checked in on her injuries, feeling a light tug on her leg or a few touches on her arm occasionally. it was mostly silent, the sound of distant chatter in the cafeteria being the only sound audible to her. within minutes though, she heard the doors slide open; and not surprisingly, there stood her best friends. they always seemed to know when miley took a tumble. it was like a sixth sense. before she could even explain anything, she saw eric being pushed aside (not surprisingly.)
"move, i gotta see what adrian did this time." she heard the voice scoff, recognizing it as none other as sprite. she rolled her eyes mentally, leaning back and supporting herself with her hands.
"hi, scar boy," the other female voice greeted, closing the door behind them so they could have some privacy. she sat next to miley on the bed-like cot, making sure to leave barely any room between them as she pulled miley into a hug. miley groaned out in pain, slowly hugging the girl back.
"be careful with her, jin! she just got into a fight, you're gonna break her!" chastised sprite, gently separating the two. miley thanked the lord as he felt jin let go, the pain relieving from her body. she watched with her peripheral vision as eric was recovering from sprite's ministrations. silence overtook the room again before eric broke it effectively.
"i don't know if we've met yet. i'm eric. i'm usually the one who helps miley get up after she fights with adrien. jin's friend, too." he offered his hand, but sprite did not take it. she only gave him a cold glare, which made eric aware she was not going to take his hand. "i'm also miley's friend. we uh, have math. and history."
"you're one of adrien's friends?" she countered. the boy nodded. a moment passed by before sprite sighed and let go of the cold stare.
"sprite." was all she said, miley amused by the interaction. jin seemed to enjoy it, too. it was nice to see that her friends were meeting each other. even if some of them didn't seem that interested in it.
the tension seemed to be high. miley couldn't put a finger on it, but she could tell most of it radiated from sprite and eric. well. they seemed to be getting along well already! she hoped that one day they could all hang out, together. as a big group. with no tension. maybe that was a little too much, but hey. a girl could wish, right?
