A/N: HI! Just wanting to warn you, I stole some of the elements from Cassandra Clare's MORTAL INSTRUMENTS series because I love it so, so much. You might see more of this in further chapters and probably previous ones too. I just think her writing's GENIUS and wanted to add some of it to my story. I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE BOOKS FROM THAT SERIES!

"If you don't shut up right now, I swear I'm gonna rip your head off" Jasper growled. Josh just laughed. "What I don't understand is why you're convinced the best thing to do is ignore her. I know that if I ignored Vanessa, she'd drain me dry and find a nice lake to dump my body in."  Josh said laughingly. Jasper sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Because she's human, and she'll never be able to understand my world, our world. She would be a terrible luna, and I need a strong one by my side." Jasper set down his coke on the low table. He had sworn off alcohol on Monday when he woke up in a stranger's pool in a bunny costume. He knew it wouldn't last long.

It's been a couple of days since he's last seen Jasmine. Josh can tell it's killing him. Josh spared a worry glance at his best friend. "That's not the only thing on your mind is it?" Jasper shook his head in reply. "You're still mad about that snake thing we found?" Josh whispered nervously.

"They're supposed to be extinct, you told me they were extinct."

"MOSTLY extinct, I said mostly extinct for your information."

"Mostly extinct is obviously not extinct enough."

"Okay, well I'm sorry, next time I'll just have to change the fine print in the demonology textbooks from "MOSTLY EXTINCT" to "NOT EXTINCT ENOUGH FOR JASPER, HE PREFERS HIS SNAKE WOMEN REALLY, REALLY EXTINCT."

"We could've died!"

"But we didn't, it was already dead when we got there, so everything's cool."

Jasper sighed again. Running another hand through his hair. "If you keep doing that, you're going to lose your hair." Josh tutted. Jasper just looked at him, frowning. "Frown lines too, you're gonna look like your fifty at age eighteen. Won't be such a ladies man then now will we?" Josh continued. Jasper shook his head. He loves Josh like a brother, but sometimes his humor can get to be too much. Josh seemed to pick up on this. "What? I thought you liked it when I'm witty and sarcastic." Jasper groaned and stood up. "Quiet, I need quiet." He said, starting to pace. The door to the side suddenly came to life as it swung open, nearly hitting Josh in the face. Cyndy, Jasper recognized, stood there out of breath. A Lykin girl who didn't talk much. Not from lack of words but from lack of will.  "Jasper, your father needs you in his study." She said calmly. Or tried to say calmly. She was still wheezing from the twelve mile long sprint over. Jasper stood up like a soldier and walked straight past Cyndy, not daring to keep the alpha waiting.

Jasmine sat on the mansion's roof, wondering. Her mind doing backflips through a nostalgia induced haze. She wasn't drunk. Though she tried very hard to be. But her body betrayed her. Her senses always too painfully aware of everything around her. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she remembered.

"You love him"

"Yes"

A bitter laugh rang through the air. Vibrating in her ears. It felt cruel, so out of character from the vivid, wild girl she pretended to be sometimes. Maybe if she had just shut up right then and there she wouldn't be in this mess.

"But not the way you love me."

She smiled again. Not a smirk, or a scowl, with no traces of bitterness. A genuine smile. Something she hasn't done in a long time. But she remembered the warmth in his voice. His touch. Everything.

"Yes."

A sob racked her body. Her mind shifting back to the present.

"I love you."

A sudden thought accord to her. Maybe not so sudden, maybe she didn't know it but it's been forming slowly through her mind throughout the too many years she's lived through. Just waiting for the right moment to unleash the perfect wave of depression.

I kill everyone who loves me.

Jasmes Hutson was pissed. Not because Jace was out for blood. Not because his own soon was unfortunate enough to fall under the curse Jasmine brought along with her. But because Jasmine, Nicolai, Wren, and Jace would have to go through this all. Again. Maybe, for Nicolai and Wren, in different forms but nonetheless, they would be going through unimaginable heartbreak, murder, betrayal. The list goes on. With a sudden movement he picked up the oak wood coffee table and slammed it against the wall. Pure blooded shifters, such as himself live a long time. He's seen this before. In fact, he's seen it many times. And the ending is never pretty.

"Temper much?" Jasper said from the doorway. James growled. Not being able to deal with his son's challenges at that moment. He pinched the bridge of his nose. Trying to calm himself. "Jasmine will be staying at our house tonight." He said firmly, to make sure his son knew it was an order. Jasper's mouth dropped to the floor. "What?!" He yelped, It had been hard enough avoiding Jasmine this past few hours. Living next to her is going to screw everything up. "No exceptions." The alpha pushed Jasper out of the way, fingers still pinching the bridge of his nose in a ridiculous manner. Jasper was so shocked he didn't even notice Josh come in. Josh's eyes brightened. He had heard the entire conversation and was mire than excited to meet Jasper's mate. He jumped up and down and clapped his hands like a school girl.

"YAY! Sleepover!" He screamed excitedly.

"Shut up." Jasper growled.
