(How I see Jailynn[pronounced jay- lynn] in middle school)

Me and jay have been friends since eighth grade never saw one without the other, we did everything and went everywhere together. If I got bullied he was there to stand up for me weather it was personal or public I was more into the book then doing what most kids would do my age, so kids picked on me every chance they had. But not Jay, He was my best friend and I was his, if I needed anything or if I was upset he was there he would drop whatever he was doing just to come to be by my side and comfort me,even if it was two o'clock in the morning he would sit and talk on the phone, if I needed a shoulder to cry on,he was there.
So when I broke up with with my boyfriend in 9th grade he was the first person to know and be there, he made sure I ate and showered and just stayed alive.
But when he went into the rangers in the forces after highschool, it felt like a knife in my heart. He didn't even say goodbye,not even a letter to see how I was doing. I didn't know what to do with my life
He was my first real love,first kiss and my best friend I could literally tell anything to.
So I decided to step up and do what I always wanted to do, become a detective so I set my mind to that.

(Present day)

(Jailynn today)

"How you doing jai?" Erin asked coming up to me and handing me a cup of coffee.
"Been better," I sighed Then I looked into Hanks office and I had to do a double take, it can't be could it?
"Earth to jai?" Erin laughed waving her hand in front of my face
"What." I said still looking at Hanks office, it's him I know it I know the way he stands.
"What's the madder it looks like you seen a ghost?''
"It's him I know it."
"The rookie?" She replied
"Yep, we grew up together, met in middle school we were like two peas in a pod. Literally never saw one without the other.Then straight out of high school, he left for the rangers without a goodbye. Never heard of saw from him again till today. He my my first real love first kiss."
"The feelings are still there aren't they?" She said teasingly
"What no.... I'm pissed at him he left me without a goodbye, he promised me he wouldn't leave me. He was my rock I was a mess when mama told me he left."
"Go tell him that. I'm sure once he sees how you changed he'll be kicking himself in the ass."
I sighed and put my hands in my pocket and went in Hanks office.
"There's your partner now." Hanks voice said once I reached the doorway
He turned to look my way and a look of shock on his face
"Hello again stranger glad to see you joined the land of the humans again." I said trying to keep my cool. I crossed my arms across my chest
"Jai?"
"You two know each other?" Hank asked leaning back in his chair
"We go way back, we practically grew up together. Met in middle school," I looked at Jay,"and you can call me Jailynn or Paige when were out in the field."
"Jailynn is our best dective out there, she's my eyes and ears when I'm not there so what she says goes." Hank said,"so listen to what she tells you."
After we left the office I went back into the rec room to get me some coffee,"Jai wait up." Jay said catching up to me
"Why? You didn't wait for me, you just up and left after high school, left me without saying goodbye. How do you want me to feel when you came back into the picture four years later? Not even one letter to tell me your ok? I was worried fucking sick about you Jay. Ask Will, I landed myself in the ER a few times I didn't eat hardly slept because I was so worried I thought you hated me that's why you left me."
"I would never hate you Jai-"
"Jailynn to you, only my friends can call me Jai, you got a long way to prove yourself back to being my friend. Your just lucky a small part of me still likes you." I replied before walking off to my desk

"Halstead let's go!" I yelled into the locker room. I sighed walking away to the car,As he came out and ran to catch up to get into the car,"come on solider,rule number one Halstead, when I say go you have to have your stuff ready to go, next time your late I won't wait for you."

(Jay's point of view)

"Trust me jay, jai means business, she started out here like you but she worked her butt off to get were she is know. Voight took her under his wing to train her." Alvin said spinning in his seat to look at me
"That's true, she's badass she once took down a guy by herself that was like twice her height and weight like he was a Pebble.''adam said
"Were is Jailynn?" I asked
"Should be in the locker room why?"
Then I thought of something,"shit what's today's date the 25?"
"Ya? Why?" Kevin asked
I didn't answer I just took off running towards the lockers
I went in and I could see her with her head on her knees trying to breath through a panic attack.
"Jailynn it's me, can I come closer?" I asked softly trying not to scare her more
She nodded,today was April 25, when we were kids her dad went to jail for abuse, it's a long story but she didn't sleep unless I was beside her for about two weeks, I couldn't leave her side.
I moved to sit just three lockers down, she looked over at me her makeup was running down her face," the espisode again?" I said calmly she nodded.
"I don't want you to see me like this Jay."
"Ive seen worse,trust me. Sure I left that was strike number one with you,leaving without telling you goodbye was the biggest mistake of my life, your my best friend and I know I'm gonna gain your trust back and I will. Even if it takes me the rest of my life. I was there when you went through those things, I'm here for you know, I got your back just like you got mine."
"But we're partners Jay, we have to have each other's backs."
"I had your back a long time ago Jailynn, I always will." I replied moving alittle bit closer to were I was just beside her but not touching her. The thing is with panic attacks you gonna let the person come to you. I've been in her shoes.
"Why didn't you say goodbye?" She said looking up and whiping the tears away with the back of her hand.
"Because I knew if I did I'd probably end up doing something that would end our friendship." I said sitting in front of her
She looked up at me confused," sure we had a ruff patch jay but nothing could break her friendship. What do you mean?"
I leaned over and gave her a kiss," doing that, I've been in love with you since that day in eighth grade when you puched Tommy Howard for steeling Cathy Johnson's lunch money."
She laughed,"one he asked for it and two you know how I am, I see someone in need of help I spring into help."
"And you wonder why I called you wonder woman growing up."
"My nerd." She laughed rolling her eyes
"Two peas in a pod." I replied kissing her again
"Forever. Even if you get on my nerves."
