“I’m tired, may I rest now?”

I held her tight in my arms waiting for her to be lost in a midnight dream. Slowly losing her consciousness; losing her thoughts; losing her memories. I felt her warm skin touching mine, feeling the air she’s removing out of her.

I’ve blown a bucket of tears from my eyes, my eyes become blurry because of my tears. I feel something in my throat, I grab my stomach and hold my breath just to keep quiet, I’m silently crying, for  reasons I knew long before; reasons I still hadn’t accepted. How do you mend my life that’s wrecked by the void she left?

“Accel, aren’t you going to rest?” Isabelle asked as she entered the room.

“Maybe, in a while.” I told her.

“So? Do you mind if I join you?”

“No worries, it’s fine.” I replied without even looking at her.

“How are you? Are you okay?” she asked with full concern.

“Sort of, I am. I just need to get used to it”

“Used to the pain?”

“Getting used to the feeling of being forgotten, being left hanging.”

“I’m sorry, I know this is hard for all of us, especially you. My sister, she’s going to leave all of us hanging each time she walks out the door.”

“I know.” I said cracking my voice.

My stare roamed around the room, scanning every detail inside it. The tables with small albums and pictures of how it used to be. The small pin notes pasted on the ceilings, walls and door, “You are Lucy Arnelli Emborgo” “You are twenty-two years old” “You have 3 older sisters, Tyrence, Claire and Isabelle” “Your parents are Leah Emborgo and John Emborgo” “You are a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer”

“Hey Accel, if you have a change of mind, we’d understand if you’ll go and leave her, besides she doesn’t remember.” She told me looking at Lucy.

“That’s not a change of mind, it’s more of a change of heart, but that’s not happening. I am certain, she will forget me as soon as the sun sets and her dreams will come to her thoughts,  but I don’t mind, I am hoping that one day before my candle turns out, she will, just once, remember me, in any way she can.”

I stood up and placed Lucy comfortably on her bed. And I sat next to her, slowly caressing her face. It would take a lot of effort not falling for her. She’s Pitch Black. Not that she’s evil but she’s mysteriously odd but in a good way. She’s too unpredictable in her ways of exploring the word fun.

“Lucy…”, I said her name holding her hand tightly.

“Why do you love her that much Accel?”Isabelle asked out of the blue.

“Simply because she’s foolish and stupid.” I smiled, “Foolish her not to see the greatness she possesses and stupid her to see all the beauty around her, but not within her.”

Another tear fell from my eyes.

“But even if, she’s not all that, I’d still love her. I love her, not just her qualities anyway”, I giggled.

“I’m glad to hear that.”

Tyrence entered in the room carrying bed sheets and blankets.

“Accel, Belle, you’re still awake at this hour.”

“Yeah, I just wanted to make sure that she’s sleeping tight.” I said.

“And I’m just having a little conversation with Accel.” Isabelle said.
