The first time he meets the idiot is a day Katsuki will never forget.
He wakes up at the usual 6am by pure muscle memory and immediately gets ready for his daily run. Today, July 6th, is the first baseball game of the season and he can't wait.
Ever since Katsuki was little he has taken quite the interest in Baseball, not playing, but he used to watch it with his dad and Deku whenever possible, analyzing everything through screaming at the TV, his dad chuckling in the background and Deku scribbling away in his new notebook about every little detail. When he is finally old enough for his parents to let him go to the local teams first game alone, he doesn't hesitate to get the day started before they can change their minds.
His parents used to control his every move like fucking maniacs, but not anymore, Katsuki's 14 now which means hes been awarded freedom. Even though they still usually force Deku to be around as the voice of reason, he has gotten a lot more slack than usual and is now allowed to go on these morning runs. This day is what he has been looking forward to the most though. A day alone where he can sit by himself and get sucked into the sport as he usually does but this time without Deku's muttering or his dad's unnecessary commentary.
While on that little rant in his head, Katsuki fails to notice that he is quite behind on time and rushes out the door, aggressively shoving his headphones in his ears while blasting Gorillaz. Not calling a goodbye because he knows his parents are still sleeping. Shit, He's behind.
The route he takes is familiar, up the sidewalk of the neighborhood until he reaches the break into a less stable and more steep dirt trail, through some thick trees and to the opening at the top of the hill his neighborhood sits on. Once outside his house, he goes through some quick warm up stretches and starts off his 2 mile round trip jog. Let's do this.
Katsuki jogs effortlessly until about the break onto the dirt trail when he feels something latch onto the back of his loose-fit shirt. He whips around with a glare ready to kill which slightly falls when he turns to find Deku, also in a running fit, headphones dangling around his neck and a nervous look sitting on his face. Fuck, he was late today so of course his route had to mix with Deku's. Katsuki realizes that the boys mouth is moving and rolls his eyes while pausing his music and sticking his bluetooth earbuds in the pockets of his shorts.
"-tried calling your name but," He pauses in the middle of his sentence realizing that Katsuki has absolutely no clue what he had said and let out a shaky chuckle, "ah sorry, Kacchan."
"Fucking whatever," Katsuki mumbles while rolling his eyes again "What were you going on about, nerd"
His green eyes widened slightly, "Oh right!" he says, putting on a more confident smile and standing a little straighter. "I was just saying how it's funny seeing you here, I'm out here almost every morning and never seem to run into you!" Yeah, that's on purpose, idiot.
"I left later today... got distracted." He grumbles, beginning to jog up the hill, only putting a single earbud. The nerd's probably going to follow him. The scurrying footsteps and surprised noise confirm his suspicion.
About 5 minutes of complete silence and jogging up the trail and Katsuki starts to practically feel Deku's need for conversation, even through the heavy breathing, "Fucking spit it out if you are going to be all awkward already." He sneers, eyes still ahead.
"Sorry," He lets out a breathy laugh, "But seriously, Where are we going, I've never gone up here before?"
"Oh my god we are almost there just fucking wait"
