"Turn that shit off!" Michael hisses at me. I roll my eyes. "Michael, wraiths are deaf, remember?" We learned a few months ago that the sick human's become deaf.

"I still want to be safe." He whispers. I roll my eyed and turn off my iPod that I found yesterday. Some band called 'Green Day' was playing a song called 'American Idiot.'

Michael searches through the shelves and I cross my arms and lean against the shelf across from him. "You really had us risking going outside for some damn hair dye?" I ask. He nods. "The purple is fading, I need a new color." He says, continuing the search.

I scoff as he snatches something. "Yes! Red! Perfect!" He says quietly. I smile at my best friend. "Come on, let's-Ah!" I scream as I feel two hands grab my waist.

I struggle as I hear the wraiths death groan. Michael yells and takes out his pistol. "Duck!" He screams. I duck as far as I can and scream as Michael shoots the ugly thing in the head.

I fall to the ground and cut my hand on some glass. "Shit your bleeding, time to run!" Michael screams. Just then, we hear it. Hundreds of feet pounding against concrete. wraiths are like sharks, they can smell blood from a hundred miles away.

We run as fast as possible to our car. I dive in the passengers side and Michael starts the car, fumbling with the keys. "Mikey hurry up and get us the hell out of here!" I scream.

He slams the gas pedal down and we fly forward, smashing a few wraiths in the way. There's a herd. They're coming in from everywhere as Mikey flies past them.

We sail down the long road. I finally let out a sigh of relief.

"Are you okay? Did it bite you?" Michael ask. I shake my head. "I'm fine." There are symptoms when they bite you. It hurts like hell in the spot they bit you, then your eyes turn a shade of yellow, then you die.

A few minutes later, you come back as one of them. Deaf and blind, but a nose so strong. Runs faster than a cheetah. Stronger than 10 men. Sometimes, I am surprised I'm still alive.

We drive in complete silence. Michael looks tense as his hands turn bare white as he grips the wheel tighter.

I put my hand on his thigh and he tenses up in his seat. "Mike, i'm sorry." I don't know why, but I feel the need to apologize. "Why are you apologizing?" He loosens his grip and looks at me for a second, then back on the road.

"I don't know." I tell him truthfully. "Kaylee, please don't apologize if you haven't done anything wrong." He softly begs. I smile. "Thanks." I lean over and hug his shoulder.

"Thanks for being the brother I never had." Michael suddenly tenses up and nods slowly. "Welcome." He mumbles, sounding a little sad.

Michael's P.O.V

My heart is pounding in my chest. When the wraith grabbed her, I panicked. I thought I just lost the one important thing in my life.

Kaylee is the reason I get up and try to fight everyday. She is the reason I even like getting up.

"Thanks for being the brother I never had." She tells me. The moment she says that, my heart sinks. I thought she felt the same way about me as I felt about her.

She is absolutely stunning. Her long dark hair with blonde highlights compliment her beautiful face. Her bright green eyes can make any dark room light up. Her smile is probably the best part.

She is curvy, just how I like it. Her body parts aren't huge, but they definentaly aren't small. She is perfect.

"Welcome." I mumble to her sadly. I can't believe she thinks of me as her brother. Maybe I should be straight forward and tell her how I feel? Yeah, I'm going to do that.
