Chapter 14

I glanced at my phone while we're having our dinner. Nagtagal ang tingin ko sa cellphone at nang walang mahintay, agad na binalik ang mata sa pagkain at kumain na lang nang tahimik. I don't know what is so wrong with me. Why am I so bothered, and why am I so lonely?

I sighed while hugging my knees. I am sitting while staring at my notebook and a piece of paper. Kanina pa ako natapos sa pag-so-solve pero hindi pa rin ako dinadalaw ng antok... at parang may hinihintay kahit wala naman.

I looked at my phone for the nth time. I was about to get up when suddenly it rings. My eyes automatically locked on it and then I saw Lei is calling...

I sighed again before I answer the call.

"Hi!" she cheerfully greeted me.

"Kumusta?"

"Ehhh? Bakit ganyan boses mo?""

I stopped for a moment because even I, I was shocked because of the sudden tone of my voice.

"Are you sad?" she asked. I bit my lower lip because I remember I haven't told her yet what happened to me and about the organization. Wala rin naman akong balak sabihin dahil panigurado mag-aalala ito at baka sisisihin na naman niya ang sarili.

"Katatapos ko kasi sagutan iyong mahabang problem," pagdadahilan ko. I heard her sighed.

"Sorry ha, wala kasi ako diyan. Tuturuan pa man din sana kita," she joked.

I chuckled.

"Ano? Bakit ka tumatawa? Nakakainsulto ka ah!"

"Yeah, I wish you were here," I said then we became silent again. I bit my lower lip and hugged my knees tightly. Nakayuko na ako ngayon at ang noo ay nakapatong na sa tuhod.

"Sinong... kasama mo na ngayon?" she asked.

"Sa tingin mo?" I chuckled to hide my emotions.

"Wala?" she probed.

"Hindi ko naman kailangan ng kasama."

"Yeah, right..." she whispered but enough for me to hear her.

There's a long silence between us after that. I know she knew that I am kinda lonely. I know too that she's worried.

"Kamusta?" I asked again just to have some topic.

"Ayos lang naman. Ikaw ba?"

"Ayos lang din."
