The Festival

Xen's Pov: It was early morning, and I was up and wide awake before Momma is. With that, I decided to wake her up, because the sun was up and it was time to start the day. Also, today is the day of the festival, which I'm really excited about. Shifting into my beastman form, I sneaked out of my room and made way to Momma's. I opened the door as quietly as I could, without waking her up. I snuck in and climbed onto the bed. Seeing as she's still sleeping, I waited for a moment until I made the next move. I use my tail to tickle her nose, which made her scratch it a little. I giggle at that and I use my hand to tickle her nose again. This time, this made Momma wake up and smile up at me, to which I smiled right back. "Morning, Momma" I said to her, my tail swishing back and forth happily. "Morning Xen, how'd you sleep?" she asks me. "Good! Guess what? Today's the festival!" I said to her, excitedly. "That's right, it is, kiddo. Wanna help me make some blueberry waffles this morning? To start the day?" Momma asks me. "Yes! Blueberry waffles are the best!!" I shouted excitedly, jumping up and down on the bed. "Okay, take it easy, Xen. Let's get you dressed and ready for school, and then we'll have those waffles" she said. "Okay, Momma" I replied, jumping off the bed and running to my room to get some clothes.

Aimi's Pov: I watch as Xen leaves my bedroom, a chuckle leaving my lips. These were my mornings most of the time, where my son would come in, crawl in my bed and wake me up in the most sweetest thing possible. These are one of the moments that I cherish the most, waking up to see his face, in his beastman form, either being sweet or playful. I get up, stretched my arms, and went over to my drawers to get some clothes. I removed my night clothes and put on my usual ones (as shown in the character info I put up). After I brushed my hair, I leave my room and walk to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Xen was already there, back in his human form and brushing his. Once we were done, we go over to the kitchen to make the waffles. It got a little messy, with a few giggles here and there, but we still made it. When we got seated at the table, and when Xen got his first bite, his eyes were completely heart shaped. "Mmmm, this is the best blueberry waffles we've ever made, Momma" he said, complementing on the dish. "It certainly is, Xen. You're a pretty good chef" I said to him, which caused him to giggle in happiness and pride. "Now, you know that Aunty Mila will come pick you up after school today?" I said, taking a bite out of my waffle. Mila is a blue bird beastman, who I met not long after me and Xen came to Anima City, along with another beastman named Kya, who is a sea lion. The three of us became fast friends and helped us out during our struggles. "Yep, I know. Don't worry, I will be good for her" he tells me, which made smile. 'How did I end up with such a sweet boy' I thought, as I continued to eat our breakfast.

We finished our waffles, and we left the apartment to start our day. I took Xen to his preschool, giving him lots of hugs and kisses goodbye, and I went over to work. It wasn't too far of a walk from home or Xen's school, only a few blocks. I get to the restaurant a few minutes early and I started working without any problems at all throughout the whole day.

Aimi's Pov: The hours went by, and it was already nighttime. It was also the time of the festival. Me and Xen were getting ready to go, both of us already in our beastmen form. Mila was going to come with us, but some things came up at her home, so she wasn't able to come. "Alright, ready to go, Xen?" I asked my son, putting a light jacket on him. "Yes, Momma, but why do I need to wear a jacket? I have fur" he asks me, his long tail swirling left and right. "It's just to be on the safe side, kiddo. It's slightly chilly outside, but not too much" I tell him. "Oh, alrighty then" he said, a bright smile on his face. I returned the smile and ruffled the fur on his head a bit, causing him to giggle and laugh. He jumps into my arms happily, digging his head into the fur of my neck, causing me to giggle as well. "I love you, Momma" he said to me, hugging me tightly. "I love you too, Xen" I replied, returning the hug. After the loving embrace, we separated and we got out of the apartment. I locked the door and we made our way to the festival. As we got onto the sidewalk, I thought I heard the sound of a hyena cackle a few feet away from me. I looked all around me, quietly keeping Xen close to me. Then, my eyes caught a tall figure out in a alleyway. I couldn't quite tell who it was, due to all the darkness and the night sky. But still, for some odd reason, they seemed kind of familiar, like I've seen them before. "Momma, are you okay?" I heard Xen call out, breaking me from my trance. I looked at him, his face looking a little concern, his head tilted a bit. "Uh, yea, I'm okay, sweetie" I tell him, comforting him with a smile. I turn back to the direction of the alleyway, but the figure was gone. "Come on, Momma, let's go!" Xen said, tugging on my hand a little. "Alright, Xen, we're going" I said. I took one last at the alleyway before we continued our walk to the festival.
