What now? Those two words could sum up the entirety of my past few weeks. Eren and I were together, the titans had been vanquished, and perhaps worst of all I had finished reading all of the books in the Scouting Legion's library. All my thoughts led to those two words: What now?

~~~~
A few days ago the Scouting Legion was dissolved, which has led to much yelling and bitterness from Eren. We are still allowed to use the buildings, since no one here has anywhere to go, but we aren't bound together any longer. To be honest I am glad that we don't have to be anymore. It is amazing the walls are open and the public is being let out into the outside world, all the wonders we could ever imagine are out there and available for everyone. I'm going to live outside the walls one day. With Eren of course. We have talked about it before but never seriously, it always ended with one of us suggesting something outrageous and after that a fit of laughter. But now, now everything seems so close and possible.
I was laying out in front of the old headquarters stargazing, when suddenly Eren flopped down beside me. It was startling at first but once I realized who is was I calmed down. I looked at him for a moment before returning my gaze to the night sky.
I could feel his green eyes burning on my skin. "Why are you staring at me?" I asked quietly.
"Because you're adorable when you look at something you want to learn about," he replied equally quiet.
Several moments passed in silence.
I rolled over and looked directly at him "We could go live on the outside," I whispered just barely audible.
"What!" Eren replied practically shouting," I mean, would you really be willing to do that?"
"Yeah, I've been thinking about it a lot recently, there is a big forest not too far away from the wall, but it is just far enough where no one would bother us. We could bring all the things we would need: seeds, tools, clothes and such and we could build a house out there."
Eren took my hand and smiled looking up at the sky,"Arlert you never fail to amaze me."
I smiled too and returned to stargazing. Several more minutes passed in a comforting silence.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Eren asked quietly.
"Absolutely."
"Okay then we can start preparing tomorrow," he whispered beaming at me.
"Okay," I said back before drifting slowly off to sleep.
The next few days were chaotic. Eren ran around wildly gathering up anything he thought we would need. We pooled together all the money we had between the two of us and managed to buy all the things we thought we would need that we didn't have. By the end of the week we were poor as dirt, not that we weren't to begin with. We then reached the first of our problems, how to get all of our supplies to the forest. We could try to fit it all into two packs but they would be so heavy I don't think either of us would be able to carry one. We didn't have a horse either all the ones the Scouting Legion used to have were given back to His Majesty the King. We could take multiple trips, but it wouldn't be efficient and we would waste most of our supplies. I was explaining this to Eren when he had an ingenious idea.
"What if we built a cart?" Eren said innocently.
"We don't have a horse," I reminded him.
"It doesn't have to be pulled by a horse, what if we just pushed it?"
"That might work but what would we build it out of?" I asked.
"The old carts we have here!" Eren shouted his eyes lighting up, "No one ever uses them so I bet no one will mind if we modify one a bit!"
I couldn't help but laugh, his idea would be perfect.
We got to work. It took another week or so, but we built a cart that would hold all of our supplies, and it was just the right size for us to push it. The next day we planned to leave. The morning came and neither of us could contain our excitement. We said goodbye to our friends that we were leaving behind and left. It was exhilarating it felt like everything was going to be perfect.
At the gate exit there was a guard. I hadn't expected that.
"Eren," I said looking him dead in the eye, "let me do the talking, okay, don't say anything."
"Whoa, okay I won't, I won't," he replied quickly. I didn't know that I was that intimidating.
"What is your name," the guard asked.
"Armin Arlert and that's Eren Jäger," I replied trying not to sound like a coward, and failing miserably.
"What is your purpose for leaving," he asked in the same monotone voice as before, writing something down.
"We are going to build a house and live outside the walls," I said sounding more brave this time.
He walked to our cart and inspected every item inside before returning to his post and saying, "Proceed."
I could barely contain myself as we walked through the gates. I had been through here many times before, but I had never been excited about it.
As soon as we were out of earshot of the guard Eren asked, "Which way do we go to get to the forest?"
"If this map is accurate it should be about a two day walk that way," I pointed east.
We walked until the sky grew dark and we could no longer see where we were going. We both crawled into the cart and tried to make ourselves comfortable.
Eren cuddled up to me and whispered, "I'm happy that we are doing this."
"I'm happy you are doing this with me," I said back.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
I wasn't quite right it was a four day walk and by the end Eren was crabby and tired. I was tired but still happy.
We reached the forest around midday, and by nightfall we had found the spot where we were going to build our house. It was a small clearing with a stream running by it, it was scenic and perfect.
The next morning we started to build. We cut down two trees and removed their bark before lunchtime, it was at this point I realized how long it was going to take us to complete the building.
~~~~

After eight months of working every day, our house was completed, we had moved all of our belongings in, and we had a garden that produced almost all of our food. It was perfect.

It was sunset by the time everything was completely done, and Eren and I were sitting on our new porch watching as the sky seemed to catch fire. The view was obstructed if you looked out towards the horizon, but if you looked up you could see all the colors of the sunset dance across the sky.

"It's beautiful," I said watching as the sky faded from a brilliant orange to a deep red.

"Yeah, it really is," Eren replied taking my hand and nuzzling his face into my hair. "Someday, I'm going to build you a proper castle and you'll be able to see everything from one of the windows."

"I don't know," I said looking over my shoulder at our house, "this looks like the perfect castle to me."

I hope you enjoyed my little story! It is my first attempt at writing a romancy-fanfiction! It is also the first time I have ever written a fanfiction from a character's perspective. I hope you liked it!
P.s. ~~~~ means that there was a time skip.
