"What are you doing in here?" Asked Jonah.
"I don't know, I guess I just miss mom."I told him.
He ran up to me and hugged me.
"Its okay she'll be back."
I smiled at him. He was being so cool about this. I picked him up and looked him. He wasn't crying, that was strange.
"Is there something that you're not telling me?" I asked him suspiciously.
He looked down and shook his head. I just sighed and sat him back down on the floor.
I walked in the kitchen again. It was 12:03. I sat back down at the table and stared out the window next to me. I watched as a bunch of deer walked around our house. Their was four of them.
A father, mother, and two babies. It kind of reminded me of what our family used to be, 6 years ago.
Jonah was to little to remember what it was like, but he always asks mother and I. I remember it like it was yesterday.
One day father came home from hunting. He didn't bring anything home that night. My mother was furious at him. For the last couple of days, my father didn't bring us anything to eat from his hunts. He was getting to old and he was real shaky when he tried to hunt.
"Because of you, our family is starving." My mother yelled at him. He finally got so mad at her he yelled something I thought he would have never said.
"Well I've tried to hunt but its just to hard for me now! And I'm sick of you always yelling at me! I'm though with you and your ungratefulness....I'm leaving!" He grabbed some of hid stuff and slamming the front door.
My brother started to cry. He was only 2 at the time. My mother picked up Jonah and sat him down in his crib and ran into her room crying her eyes out. I stared out the window and watched as my father disappeared into the trees.
It was the worst day of my life. I was only 6 at the time and here I am 12. I still haven't seen him since that day. Ever since then, my mother always went down to town and got groceries once every two months. I snapped put of my thoughts when my brother waved his hand in front of my face.
"Hello? Are you even listening to me?!"
I smiled at him.
"Sorry I was thinking. What do you want?"
"Im hungry." He rubbed his tummy while sticking out his tong.
I guess three pancakes don't fill a kid up.
I laughed and walked over to the fridge. I opened it up and found nothing. I started to panic.
