 July 6, 1879

The land in front of him began to blow with the wind. It was his first day out on the open range. It was a hot summer day. He looked out on the cattle that he was moving. They were beautiful. The herd moved in a slow line, while the cattle movers kept them in order and tried not to let them break apart. He rode on his horse at the end of the line. His job was to make sure that no cattle fell behind, because if a cow gets left behind they would dock his pay. They were moving the cattle for three days now.

He rode on his horse holding onto the saddle as the horse slowly walked behind the line of cattle. He was bored just sitting there without anything to do. He was frustrated. He wished that he could be in front of the line directing the cattle, but yet he knew why he was in the back, because it was his first time moving cattle. The rancher that wanted his cattle to be moved said there might be cattle rustlers ready to take them and sell them. He thought to himself that who would dare steal cattle.

The young man was not worried because there were six armed men with them. The armed men had revolvers and rifles with them, while he only had a revolver. He didn't mind that these six men had more guns than him; he just wanted to get the cattle to the rancher and to get paid. Before the cattle movers left the local town people were very interested about the cattle. The cattle were red angus, they were uncommon to be down in Texas. The rancher wanted the cattle moved from Canada to Texas.

The Rancher was a very rich man, he owned a lot of oil rigs. Now he's set his sights to cattle. The young man didn't think about it that much. He picked up the cattle in Dallas. He was lucky that he was able to get the cattle half ways. He thought to himself how much money that he was getting. the rancher said if he got the cattle there he would get $160. He thought to himself how rich it would be with that kind of money.

As the sun began to hide behind the clouds, and the shade started. He heard some kind of moving to the side of him. He thought of it as nothing. Then a bit more moving, the young man put his hand on his revolver without taking it out of the holster. Then five armed men came over top the hill with guns. The young man pulled his revolver out of the holster, and fired a shot at one of the cattle rustlers. He must of course, because he hasn't trained that much with a revolver, only a rifle.

He looked to his left and other cattle rustlers came over top of the hill. The cattle began to get spooked and began to split up. The young man tried to get the cattle back into a line, but the cattle were everywhere. The young man began to panic, he looked at one of the Armed men that was with them. The armed man was shot and fell off his horse. Then a cattle rustler aimed his rifle at the young man. Then the cattle wrestler fired a shot.

He felt the bullet go right into his chest and stay there. The young man fell off his horse. He landed on the ground. He touched the bullet wound with his hand. He looked at his hand and there was blood on it. The young man with pain in his chest began to look around for help. His desperate eyes darted from the cattle to one of the head cattle movers. The man jumped off his horse, and the cattle kover ran to the dying man. The young man had tears in his eyes. The head cattle mover grabbed onto the young man's hand and embraced him. " It's not good to die alone" The head cattle said to the young man with a warm embrace. The young man clutched the cattle mover, the young man began to feel his body fade away. Then he was gone.
