"Today we will be starting a new science project! This is your unit assessment, so worth a lot of points. However...I have decided to make this a partner project!" said, my over-enthusiastic teacher.
I let out a sigh. I didn't have any friends in this class and I would probably be paired up with another guy who thinks he's all that because he plays football. Ugh men.
I waited for the teacher to call my name and tell me who I was partnered with. Finally, I heard my name being called. The suspense was building up. But nope! Of course, there had to be an interruption right in between me and my partner's name.
"Sorry about that! Where was I? Oh right, Ms. Y/N and Brielle!" stated the teacher after the janitor left the room.
I felt a weight lifted off of my shoulders. This can't be so bad, I thought. I had never actually talked to the girl, but she seemed nice from what I could see. I noticed an open spot next to her, so I collected my things and left my previous desk mate.
"Hi, I'm Y/N!" I said as I approached the empty seat.
"Hi! My name is Brielle!"
I sat down as everyone else found their new seats and the teacher gave us the directions.
"So do you have any ideas on what to do for the project?" Brielle asked after the teacher finished explaining the project.
"I'm not sure, what about you?" I responded.
"Ummmm...what about the effects that social media causes on our mental and physical health."
"Physical health?" I stupidly asked.
"Well I mean we can become so addicted to our phones that we spend more time on social media than outside being active, ya know?" she responded as continuing to doodle on her paper.
"Yeah that makes sense," I responded, and in a quieter voice, still able for her to hear, I added, "sounds like me"
She laughed at my attempt at a joke and looked up at me. I stalled at the eye contact. Was this seriously the first time I had truly looked at her? Now thinking of it, it was. I guess we managed to sit through an entire lesson and conversation, without looking at each other once. Weird.
Snapping back into reality, I stared into her deep brown eyes. The color was mesmerizing. My eyes wandered around her entire face. Her light pink cheeks and soft angled black eyebrows with two slits on the right one. Her hair went a bit past her shoulders and had beach waves throughout it. It was black, but the front two strands were an ocean blue color. For makeup, she was wearing black eyeliner under her eyelid, with a small wing and black mascara.
"Hello, Y/N," she said as waving a hand in front of your face.
You were brought out of your trance. "Ye-yes-wa-what?" The stuttered words were already out of your mouth before you could stop them. You immediately internally scolded yourself. You had been staring AT HER. idiot. I mean can you blame me she's stunning.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about something." the words spilled out of my mouth, embarrassed of the state I was just in.
"It's okay," she said brightly. Which calmed me down a bit. She probably thinks you're really weird. Shut up! My thoughts argued.
I was insanely embarrassed at this point and was quite happy when the bell rang and we could leave.
"I'll see you around, later Brielle," I said cooly, covering up my awkward side.
"Later"
She watched me walk out of the room. Thank god I didn't trip or do something stupid like that.
