"How would you feel about joining my team, Anna?" Dawn asks me. Once again I'm sitting in her office.

"Would I get my own uniform?" I exclaim, clasping my hands together like a child.

"Very funny." She says sarcastically.

"I would like you to join my team. You would be treated with respect like every other officer here. You could be, say my right hand lady? You could lead the other Officers." Dawn says tentatively.

"Listen lady, that 'you could be powerful' crap sadly does not work on me because I'm not a man with an ego. I am not on your side. I just want to leave." I say, crossing my arms and sitting back in my chair.

"Like I said, you are very clever ,Anna, although I don't think you understand what side I am on." Dawn says, raising her eyebrows at me.

"And what side would that be then?" I ask her.

"In here you are part of the greater good. We help people." Dawn says.

"So if you 'help' people," I say making air quotations with my fingers, "Then why won't you let me go?"

"Because we need you. The world needs you to help restore peace. You've got an attitude like I've never seen. I saw you fighting those biters, you're a fighter. You're the kind of person we need, a little feisty yes, but that can be cured." Dawn says, picking up a tennis ball off her desk and throwing it back and forth from hand to hand.

"How long?" I ask her. "How long do I have to be a part of your scheme before you let me go?"

"I'll get back to you on that." Dawn answers me, smiling because she feels she's just made a splendid addition to her collection. I wonder how many of these people actually want to be here.

She walks to a supply closet and gets out a folded up uniform.

"It's one of my spares. I'm sure it will be big on you, but you can make it work, right?" She asks and grins.

Thirty minutes later and I'm clothed in the uniform that hangs off of me and I have a walkie talkie on the thick belt. I've collected another knife to put on my belt when I was getting changed. They are successfully hidden by the shirt though.

Officer Shepard simply gives me the task of guarding a empty hallway that isn't completely blocked off. I don't bother trying to find a way out because I know if there was one I wouldn't be assigned to this.

I sit down against the wall with my gun still out and waste the afternoon away.

"You know, it not that bad after a while." Someone says and I jump.

It's Dr. Edwards. He sits down against the wall next to me.

"Yeah?" I ask him.

"It's better than being out there." He says.

"Yeah, well unlike you I have family out there." I say.

"Touché." He nods and I suddenly feel bad for him. He's all alone with no one that cares about him left.

"I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot." I say after a minute.

"I probably would've attempted the same thing if I had someone left out there." Dr. Edwards says,
shrugging. "I've never been much of a fighter though."

"I wasn't at first either. I hid behind people and let them take care of it but then I was on my own for a while and realized that I needed to step it up." I say.

"I have to go now, but I just wanted to tell you, don't trust Officer Dawn." Dr. Edwards says and then he leaves.
I never did, Edwards.

Night time comes once again and I'm dismissed to go to my room.
