Prolouge

Emma Broadwin stumbled on the rocky road. Her Father was heard in the backround. Her Mother and two sisters hurried with her. All three of them had a hard time not tripping in their dresses. They heard gun shots and fear flooded them,  Suddenly her Mother stopped her and put a small box in her hand and kissed her head. "Emma darling take the girls away any where but here." "They want it they want the locket." "They will kill for it Emma they will kill anything." She smiled her strong smile. "Mother can't we just give it to them?" She pleaded her blue eyes slowly filling up with tears. "No Emma!" "That stone is all we have left from England it is a very rare and valueable stone." "People want it badly it has a myth for giving the holder eternal life." "Of course that's not true but people only believe what they have been told." Emma nodded. "Yes Mother I will take the girls with me while you go get Father." "Her Mother tucked a brown curl behind the girls ear. "Good girl Emmaline good girl." "We will meet with you at old lady Gales house as soon as this man is arrested." She nodded and did just as her Mother asked she grabbed Joy's small hand then Faye's and they ran. They ran as fast as the could because no doubt when he saw Mother and Father did not have the box he would go looking for them. Emma only being 14 years old did not understand the wealth of the stone she held nor what her life held and what would happen to her all she knew was as soon as everything was settled they would go back to Broadwin house their mansion their home and she would hide the box under her floorboard and no one would know but her and Mother. They ran and ran reaching old lady Gale's house at around midnight. It was 1856 in Lancing New York. The gem that was so sought after was a Kashmir Sapphire passed down from her grandmother to her Mother. How Grandmother Lae had gotten it she had no clue all she knew was what Mama said it was extremely rare and valueable and had a strange myth with it.
