A few weeks later....

I'm going back to school now. My publisher completely understands everything that has happened and has given me an extension on the chapter. I have the best friend anyone could ask for. He was just always there for me. When I told David we were living in a hotel because our apartment was destroyed, he instantly went on about how he has to sleep in his mom's old room because his room got destroyed. I told him that I couldn't tell if he was being sympathetic or a huge whiner.

At this point, I was using crutches to get around. I found that I matched a lot of kids at school. It was my first day back, everyone was welcoming me back, people I didn't know and some I said hi to in the hallway. There he was leaning against my locker. God he's hot. I three-legged my way over to him as fast as I could. I slipped just as I reached him and he caught me around the waist, he leaned me over backwards and kissed me for the second time. People were legitly staring in the hallway. "What's everyone's problem?" I asked him. "Well, I'm just kind of a loner. I've never really had friends, let alone a girlfriend. So these kids I've known for a while are most likely legitly surprised that I have you." As he said this last part, he leaned for a third. I obliged willingly. "Mr. Moss and Mz.Takahashi, hands to yourself," barked the principal as he walked by. I snickered. "So listen, I'm about to tell you the most cliched teenage sentence in history," David playfully informed me. "What is it?" I asked with a pathetic high pitched little girl voice. "So there's this party tonight..." I laughed and punched him in the shoulder. "Seriously though, do you want to go?" He asked me. This made me really uncomfortable. My mother specifically told us to be careful, not to put ourselves out there. I told him so. "Do you really think I wouldn't take care of you? Haven't I already proved that you're safe with me?" I guess he did have a point. There's no way my mom would say yes. So begins my normal teenage high school life. "Let's do it!" I agreed.

Mystery Person P.O.V

I watched her walk out of the school on crutches linked arms with a boy. He'd have to be out of the picture when I got to her.

Mari's P.O.V

When I got home, I told my mom I had met a new friend on my day back to school. Her name was Lia Watts. And I was gonna stay overnight at her house. "That's great honey, but you just met this girl, it seems rather strange to me," she said inquisitively. "Well you know, it sucks having to share a hotel room every night with my brother," I whined convincingly. My did one of those half-smiles that stretched her scar and made me shudder. God, I'm the worst daughter.

In ten minutes, I was hobbling out of the lobby and going around the corner where David was waiting in his pickup. I felt really bad about lying to my mom. But I needed some relief in my life, I still can't believe the past week's events. It all started when I met David, head on. When we arrived, it was clear that this party was one of those ones your health textbook warns you about. Kids were drinking, smoking and doing god knows what else. "Alright, part of me taking care of you is making sure you don't get stoned, I'm serious, you have a concussion, you'll die like instantly," he said authoritatively. I wasn't planning on it. Geez, you'd think I brought my dad to the party.

Ok wow, I want to get rid of that thought.

I intend to.
