Following the directions given to me I walked out of our street, which was Sable, andturned left. After walking about 60 feet I crossed the street and headed into the park he
mentioned.
It was quite pretty; with pale pinks, vibrant violets, and electric greens popping out
among the flowers and woodland surrounding them. I felt the air getting chillier by the
second so I quickened my pace to get to the main road on the opposite side of the park.
Crossing the street I got a clear view of all the shops. The layout of this mall-type area
was like a crescent moon, so I started at the right corner, which was nearest to me.
I quickly found a small cafè called Bliss. As I opened the door the warm air rushed
against my skin, beckoning me in. Well, at least it has a cozy atmosphere... A waitress
confronted me, ending my thoughts. She seated me at a back table right next to a couple
having some coffee.
She looked like a grown up version of Shirley Temple, having blond curly hair and rosy cheeks.
"Hello Darlin! Here's a menu, my name is Jane and I will be your waitress tonight, is
there anythin you'd like to drink?" She had a slight southern accent which totally fit her
upbeat personality.
"A water is fine, thanks!" I replied as I opened the menu and she walked away.
Since it was almost seven, I decided to eat something light. As I scanned the menu, the
only thing I saw that was vegetarian was a salad, which is pretty light, so I ordered that
when Jane came back.
Finishing up my salad, I waited for Jane to come with the check. I checked my phone, as
it seemed to be getting dark outside already, and it only read 7:32 pm. As soon as she
came, I handed her the 6 dollars and told her to keep the change. As I was getting up
she said,
"Be careful darlin, strange things have been happening after dark!"
"Thanks Jane I will!"
I replied as I turned around to look at her, and ran into something -I mean someone.
"Sorry!" I said as I looked up into those bright blue eyes again.
"Oh. It's you. Well bye.."
He snickered and said, "Bye Ells"
My thoughts were racing..Did he follow me? Maybe it was just a coincidence...Weird.
Stalker...
As I walked outside a burst of cold air hit me, so I headed home quickly also taking in
mind what Jane had said. Entering my street, there was only one streetlight that
seemed to be working. Scratch that, it just flickered and stayed off.
"Oh." I whispered as pitch black darkness surrounded me.
I hurried home, and quickly locked the door behind me. Flipping on the light
switch and gathering my shallow breaths an empty room stared back at me. I turned on
my phone and checked my emails as I walked to my bedroom and got ready for bed.
One email caught my attention, it was from Aunt Lisa and it read-
"Hello dearie! I just arrived back in Cali, wow what a drive! I sent this as a reminder
that you still need to enroll in the school around there. I'm sure your parents would be
happy for you so cheer yourself up! Your car is scheduled to arrive in two days, so I
suggest you enroll in your school that day, which is a Thursday, little scatterbrain.
love, Aunt Lisa"
I replied "Thanks love you too!" and threw my phone on the bed, the one piece of
furniture this house had. After showering and changing into my pajamas I dozed off.
