Everyone gathered in the meeting room the next morning after breakfast.
Tom curled up in Bella's lap. Iris sitting next to them.
Scorpius curled up on the floor as far away from the rest of the group as possible.
James and Jasmine were sat on the couch next to each other.
Walker and the council members sat on the couches while JMR sat in a large chair.
"Scorpius, why are you sitting over there on the floor?" JMR asked.
"Want to" Scorpius replied.
Iris frowned. "Scorpius, come sit with us."
"Leave him be, Iris. he will come when he is ready" Bella says shaking her head.
Iris frowned.
The children all sent their brother a saddened look.
"who's reading?" Walker questioned sensing his honorary son was getting even more distressed by the attention.
"We should probably just stick to the order we were in before" Bella suggested.
"Then it's Jasmine's turn" James spoke up.
Jasmine reached over and took the book that was handed to her.
Iris found herself standing in front of a large pin watching the large palomino horse, running around its pin. This horses' name was Lightening, and she was Iris's horse that had been given to her when she arrived at the ranch.
Iris grinned at the mention of her horse.
"Wait, what?" James asked confused. "Ranch?"
After the man who had 'bought' her from Vernon, Derek Morgan, he took her on an airplane to the States.
Grumbles filled the room at the reminder of what had happened at the end of the last book.
Dallas, Texas to be exact. He had brought her to a ranch that was owned by her mother's adoptive parents.
Walker looked up and his eyes narrowed.
"Adoptive parents?" Tom muttered.
Bella wasn't there, however, which she suspected but it still hurt when she realized how close she was and her not being here.
"Umm...Cat?" Bella asked.
"Huh?" Iris asked.
"Rose...the cat?" Bella says looking at her.
"Oh, yeah" Iris says shaking her head. "it's hard to explain."
She spent the summer learning all sorts of new things. She learned how to shoot a bow and arrow, shoot a gun, and tracking. She even had her own permit thanks to some pull from Selene, who only comes by when she is dressed as Scorpius.
Scorpius huffed a little as he crossed his arms. "You know, this is going to get old very quickly" he says looking down thoughtfully.
Lily, Rose, James, and Ares have gotten well-adjusted to the American rancher life.
Jasmine, who had been the most interested in the animals' lives, grinned.
Lily and James spend their time in the pasture and with the horse while Rose has changed a lot. She now walks with a stiffness to her and always on alert. It was worrisome at first but when she's with Ares, she calms down and relaxes.
