Chapter 6: Blackouts and Emergency meetings

Rider's pov: 3 hours later

After a much needed run I decided to go back home. I realized I shouldn't have left the way I did. I hope Sophie is still there, but I doubt she is. I wouldn't blame her for leaving.

Surprisingly I didn't get interrupted while on my run in the woods. As I walked down the street with my hands in my jacket pockets, I paid close attention to my surroundings.

I used each of my senses. I didn't see, hear or smell anything suspicious.

This was routine for me. I'm use to watching my back.

I always make sure I'm not being followed. That would put Luke and I in danger, but most Importantly it would put Sophie in danger whenever she's at my place.

Once I made sure I wasn't being watched I went into my building. I stepped into my apartment and took off my jacket to put it in my room.

I walked down the hallway past Luke's room to my room. I stop at my door when I notice Sophie's scent.

That's not what caught my attention because I noticed her scent when I walked in but I thought it was still here from earlier.

What caught my attention wasn't just her scent, it was the fact that her scent was stronger by Luke's door.

Imagine my reaction when I open the door and see Sophie and Luke in his bed. Sophie's head was resting on his chest while his arm was wrapped around her waist.

You probably think I'm overwhelmed with anger. That I'm about to snap at any second. Sure I don't particularly like the way they're laying but honestly I'm glad he was there for her when my stupid ass wasn't. And I trust the both of them.

Luke has a mate and I know he just wants to protect her and help her when she needs it. If we still had a pack he would be my beta because you see I would be the Alpha so it's his duty to watch over her and tend to any of her needs when I'm not around.

But he's more than my beta, he's like my brother and he'd do anything for me including taking care of my Sophie. I'm thankful to have someone like him around.

I walked over to Sophie's side of the bed to pick her up. When I lifted Luke's arm from her waist his eyes snapped open. He growled and brought her closer to his side. My wolf didn't expect it so he showed up and growled back at Luke for denying me my mate.

When he realized what he did he took his arm off of her and mind linked me. "Hey Ry, sorry I didn't know it was you. It's not what it looks like. I wasn't trying anthing with her I swear. Don't kill..."

"I know, I believe you. Don't freak out about it. I was just trying to pick her up and take her to my room without waking either of you." He looked relieved. "She's all yours," he said motioning for me to take her.

I finally took her into my arms and headed to my room. When I got there I layed her in my bed and wrapped the covers around her. Before I walked out I kissed her forehead. I'm glad she's safe right here with me, where she belongs... always.

Anyways I decided to make breakfast for the only two people I care about.

Sophie's Pov

I woke up to my phone vibrating in my pocket. After I was fully awake I noticed I wasn't in my room. I looked at the bed and recognized the scent that surrounded me. A smile appeared on my face.
