Season 3: Episode 21

I look around the bustling hall, as the seniors are collecting their graduation uniforms. I was happy for them all to be moving on, but still, all my friends were leaving me, it wasn't the best thing for my social status. Besides, I wasn't the best at making friends, not anymore at least.

There is a tap on my shoulder. I turn to see Harmony in a cute coral pink romper, " Will you sign my yearbook?"

I smile and take the book, and pen from her, scribbling a little note across the bottom. Handing it back to her, I smile and she bounds down the stairs to Willow.

Squeezing past the crowd, I go into the library, where Giles was once again in a pile of books. Setting my stuff down, I sit in a chair. " Did you find anything out?"

Giles looks up, " No, just what we already know. The mayor plans to have his ascension on graduation day. I can only assume that this is going to be at the graduation. Did you talk to your mother?"

I nod. I'd wanted my family out of town before the Mayor planned to eat everyone, just to make sure she was a little safer. Luckly, she had agreed to leave on Friday, a day before Graduation.

As for the rest of my life, I was living in a small apartment for the first month, and then moving to Angel's mansion. Angel wanted a bit of a delay before I moved in, he hadn't told Buffy he was leaving yet. The property was mine, and the mansion was furnished, I just didn't move in.

As for work, I got a job at the library, which paid pretty decently. Mom had also left me a ton of money, since dad was paying for everything in L.A.

I jump as Giles slams a book on the table. " What?"

" Nothing," Giles says, clearly aggravated.

I think for a moment, " Do you remember what I said about being able to hear demon thoughts?"

"Yes, what about it?"

I twist my hands uncomfortably, " I've been thinking... there are some pretty old demons out there, what if they could help?"

Giles shakes his head, the same answer I'd been expecting, " No, I will not have you put yourself in danger."

I roll my eyes, " I wouldn't be in danger, I can fend for myself. I'm going whether you like it or not, I just thought I should tell you."

" You are 17," Giles growls.

" So?" I say, shrugging my shoulders, " I want to live to be 18, and that will only happen if we get a clue on the Mayor. I'm willing to sacrifice some things."

There is silence between us and I know Giles wasn't going to say anything else. He was still disappointed, but he wasn't going to stop me. Getting up, I grab my bag from the chair and turn to the doors.

"Where are you planning on going?" Giles shouts from behind me.

" I figured I'd hit up Willy's tonight, see if I can get some information about old demons, and then track them down." I say, not waiting for another response.

That night, I slipped out of my pajamas and into a long sleeved red blouse, and tan skirt. Zipping up my matching boots, I put a bit of red lipstick on my lips, and the green pendant I wore for good luck.

Luckly, I'd been staying in the apartment, so instead of clambering out the window, I was able to walk out the door. Bustling to the denser part of town, I walk into Willy's bar.
