It's eight ‘am and the first day of November and yet again it is absolutely tipping down with rain. ‘I swear it never stops raining here’ I say under my breath, I hate it. As the day goes on the rain begins to pass, I finally get out of my pyjamas and have a shower. I go through my wardrobe and try to find something nice to wear but as always I end up in the same faded jeans and my old Nirvana tee. I fiddle with my long curly mess of hair until i think it looks okay, I grab my bag and coat and head out.
I jump in the car and head into town, I have no real aims of today, just to entertain myself until it’s time to visit my friend Jess. It’s the same everyday really I work in a small pet shop in the local high street, the money’s not that great but I don’t really worry about financial things, the manager loves me so I get it quite easy and often sneak off. Unlike most days, today I actually got given the day off, so I needed to find something to pass the time.
When I finally arrive in town, I buy a coffee and go and sit by the lake, watching each individual raindrop hit the surface of the water. The small things in life fascinate me the most; I’m not really into the big fancy things that grab most people’s attention, although they do also amaze me. It’s now eleven and the rain has completely stopped i head back into the main part of town and browse around the shops.
I find the most perfect little shop, it sells all kids of different things from Incense sticks to jewellery, the smell when I open the door is mind blowing, and the whole shop is almost therapeutic. But sadly time is getting on and I actually have things to buy. I leave the shop and walk slowly to the supermarket, I pick up the few things that I needed, just the basics milk, bread, and of course chocolate. After I’m done in the supermarket I checked my watch ‘shit’ I said loudly it’s half twelve. I’d completely lost track of time, I had to get to Jess’ by one and the drive there takes at least 30-45 minutes.
I really picked up the pace; I’m practically running through town trying to dodge people as I go. I get to the bottom of the shops and take a sharp right back towards the car park, just as I go around the corner I run directly into someone and fall to the floor with my shopping shortly falling after me. ‘crap, I’m so sorry’ I say exhaustedly. I look up and stare completely mesmerized by his eyes as I try to get my breath back. ‘it’s fine’ he says trying not to laugh ‘are you ok?’ he smiles at me. Still mesmerized by his eyes I try to focus ‘yes I’m fine, I’m really sorry for this you can be on your way I’ll just grab my things and go’ I blush, trying to gather my thoughts.
I try to pick up my things but he doesn’t leave, he stays and helps me ‘would you like me to walk you to wherever you’re going? Or do you think you can cope?’ he grins and winks at me. I blush again, I can’t seem to focus my thoughts are scattered all over the pavement just like my shopping. ‘I can cope just fine thank you’ I scowl at him. ‘Hey, just trying to help you out’ he smiles at me once again. When I finally gather my things, I place them to one side, stand up and brush myself down and pick up my shopping. ‘I’ll be on my way now, once again sorry for the trouble’ I say with a slight smile. As I start to walk away, I assume he’s done the same. I’m halfway up the street when I feel someone grab my shoulder.
‘What’s your name lady?’ I turn around and he’s following me he shoots me a grin and we stand in silence, I’m studying him, his eyes, his mouth, his hair all of his face is just perfect. He coughs ‘hello, anyone there?’ I blush ‘yes sorry, I was just- never mind. My name? it’s um, rosy’ I smile at him. ‘Hm, that’s a very beautiful name Rosy I’m Jake’ he smiles at me and puts his hand out, I take his and he firmly shakes it. I feel the urge to dislike him but I can’t, everything about him is inviting me in.
