Evening

Chapter One

            It was the evening before school started, Madeline sitting on her porch, watching fire flying flicker in the moonlight. This year was the year that she would ask out her crush, Kyle. Whenever she saw him it was like a thousand butterflies danced in her chest. 

            "Sweetie, time for bed!" her mom called from the kitchen. Madeline quickly went upstairs to sleep and wake for a new future. She smiled with joy as she dreamed about Kyle. His hair, black as the night, his eyes, blue as the Pacific, and a smile that was brighter than the sun.

          The next morning, Madeline awoke before the sunlight even hit the window. She got dressed in her school uniform, a white shirt and sky blue skirt. Madeline patiently waited for her best friend Ben to arrive and pick her up.
