"So you're telling me that you know how a person dies by just looking into their eyes?" Y/N paraphrases and Donghyuck nods.
The teenage girl bursts into a fit of laughter. Donghyuck looks at her confused.
"You expect me to believe that? I mean how is it even possible?" She chuckles.
"Oh come on, you believe in those bloodsuckers, why won't you believe me?" He scowls.
"Okay fine, let's say I believe you. What did you see in my eyes? Did I at least die a peaceful death?" Y/N challenges.
"Well, your eyes are different, for some odd reason I can't see your death," Donghyuck scratches the nape of his neck.
"Mhm," she hums still not believing him.
"I'm being serious. It happened that day when you helped me, I accidentally looked into his eyes and I saw it," he explained the incident.
"What did you see?" Y/N questions.
"A car crash, he was driving a red sports car and blasting music so he couldn't hear the truck that was headed his way," he recalls the vision.
"Well, that is rather specific," Y/N furrows her eyebrows. "He also happens to drive a red car."
Her eyes widen in surprise and she is left speechless. How was such a thing possible?
"Okay, now it's hard for me to not believe you. But like how did it start? Why? And when? How is that even possible?" Her sudden confusion makes the boy laugh.
"I first experienced it when I was eight years old, shortly after my dad died," he begins. "As to why it started I don't know much as well but I believe it might be because I was there when my dad died. I watched him get killed and I am guessing that the fear and trauma I experienced then just made it possible for me to see the death of everyone else."
"I think of it as a punishment for not being able to save my dad, but then at the time I was only eight what could I have done," the teen looks up to prevent his tears from escaping his eyes.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that," Y/N sympathizes with him placing a hand on his shoulder to express that she's there for him.
"What is this sudden aura? Today was supposed to be a happy day," Donghyuck sniffs his tears away and stands up. "How about we play some beach volleyball? I have no idea how to play but it won't hurt to try."
"Help me up, Mr. Supernatural Powers," Y/N smiles lightening the mood and making him laugh.
. . .
"I thought you said you didn't know how to play?" Y/N exclaims as she runs for the ball.
"I don't," Donghyuck laughs. "I guess I was just born talented."
"Oh really? Think again, Mr. Lee!" She lets out a devilish laugh before spiking the ball making the boy fall face first as he tries to save the ball but fails miserably.
"Are you also talented in falling? Because that was a great fall," Y/N laughs, and Donghyuck glares at her.
"I ate sand," he complains as he spits out the sand in his mouth.
"It seems your hungry, how about we stop eating sand and go get actual food to eat?" Y/N teases making him roll his eyes.
"Oh how funny, Ms. Comedian," he tsks before getting up and following after her.
"What should we eat?" Y/N asks.
"You can never go wrong with ramen," Donghyuck suggests.
"I like the way you think. Ramen it is," she exclaims and heads for the closest convenience store.
"I'll order to save you another vision of yours," Y/N suggests earning a nod from the boy.
Not long after, Y/N came back out with two trays of ramen. "Here you go, it's still hot so let it cool off a bit," she says stirring her noodles.
"Too late," Donghyuck muttered as he was struggling to eat the noodles that were burning his mouth.
Y/N laughs, handing him some napkins, "Are you a child?"
"I couldn't wait," he pouted and continued feeding on the noodles.
The two continued to enjoy their food admiring the sea ahead of them.
"Yah!" Y/N suddenly yelled out making Donghyuck choke on his noodles.
"What?" He coughed.
"You said you got this ability after watching your father die," she says and he nods. "What if you developed it to save others? Hear me out, you wanted to save your dad but you couldn't so now you can see other people's deaths to save them."
"We can't save people's lives, we all die eventually," he shrugs.
"We can at least give them a few more days, who knows maybe even years," Y/N tries convincing him.
"How do you know this will even work? I mean all I ever see is how they die, I don't know the date or time," he says and the girl sighs.
Silence engulfs the two as Y/N continues to come up with different ideas.
"You can see their clothing and surroundings, right?" She says and he nods. "We can just work with that."
. . .
"We need to do this," Y/N said as he dragged the boy with her.
"Do we? You don't know how bad these visions can be," Donghyuck complains.
"Do you want to become globally known as a hero?" she smiles.
The boy furrows his eyebrows, "No.."
"Whatever, we're doing it. Plus you have me, if the vision is too scary just hold my hand or something," she offers her hand which he shrugs off.
"Fine but don't be too sure that this will work," he warns.
"You've been living with this ability for years, it's about time you put it to good use," Y/N says pulling his black hoodie off and lifting his face from looking at the floor.
"You've got this," the girl encourages him and he lets out a long sigh before making eye contact with the first stranger that came across him.
