Hell Seemed Better Before

Chap 2: Echoes from the Abyss

Where my palace once stood, I saw nothing but rubble, Ash, And a gaping hole in the center of it all. I wasn't sure what it was about, the hole, but it's presence alone gave me goosebumps. As I stood and stared into the darkness of the abyss before me, my feet began to move on their own. As I inched closer to the edge, I could hear a faint echo, it sounded like someone calling for me from inside of it.

I looked into what seemed to be never ending darkness, then suddenly a wave of pain overtake my body. It was my right arm, Completely shattered and I felt the full force of the agonizing torment.

As I fell to my knees I felt nothing but pain. "I wish I could just make this all end..." .then i heard the same voice from before calling me. I mustered my strength to look over into the abyss, and that voice that I had been hearing slowly twisted into something more horrifying. I screamed in pain as the abyss let out an ear splitting howl. I was so loud I could barely think straight. Before I knew it my body gave out and I blacked out.

I opened my eyes to focus on a figure in front of me. I thought it was another one of those monsters trying to eat me again, so I tried to get away from it and was stopped by a knock by the side of the head. "Get a hold of yourself you idiot, or I can't splint your arm". I rubbed my head and took another look at who just hit me. They had long dark red hair that covered the left side of their face, a purple eye, and a scar on the right side of their face that I couldn't keep my eyes off of.

"I've treated your other bruises and cuts, so you should be good for now. Just what the hell did you get yourself into out there" Then I keeled over clenching my head thinking about the tragic events that took place. I begin to remember the rage I felt, then demon puts his hand on my back and says, "Take your take if it is too much you don't have to answer right now, can you manage to tell me your name?"

"Don't touch me!" I snapped. "hey , hey it's ok, I'm just here to help" the demon slowly backs away with their hand in front of them. "Who are you?! Are you with them?! You should know exactly who I am, Everyone in Hell knows their prince when they see him!" I snarled.
