I shouldn't have gone home after I checked on the kids to make sure that they were safe and alive. I should have stayed in the woods and waited until school was over and then go back, but I wasn't thinking.

I was too deep in my thoughts, wondering if Ashlyn would help me with my siblings, let me raise them as I had been doing but away from the man that I had to call my father. I wondered if she would allow us to leave him and live somewhere else.

Or, would we just be a burden to her and to her family, like we were a burden to him?

Those were the thoughts that tumbled and rolled around in my mind, and I gave myself a headache thinking about them. I moved a hand across the bridge of my nose and sighed, my heart aching.

I thought that I wanted to be with her, to get to know her, and not have the bond tell me who I needed to love, but I couldn't do that unless I had my brother and sister with me.

As soon as I opened the door to the house, I was greeted with a punch to my face. The sound of breaking bone told me that my nose was broken, again.

Blood poured from my nose, and I fell back into the doorway. I closed my eyes as my father grabbed me by my shirt and threw me into the house and into the table near the door, breaking it.

My father slammed the door shut with a loud bang and stalked towards me. "Open your eyes, now," he growled out, and I instantly opened them to stare at the man that I called my father.

Fury filled his blue eyes, and a snarl was on his face. He stalked towards me and delivered a hard kick to my ribs.

I gasped out in pain and clutched my ribs, knowing that they were broken.

He kicked my hand hard and broke the bones in it, and I let out a strangled cry of pain, even though I tried to keep silent.

'Block the bond,' I told my wolf while he threw another hard kick into my side, breaking some more bones. 'I don't want Ashlyn to feel the pain.'

'I already did,' my wolf said. Savannah growled out in anger as my father kicked me in the side again. She knew that I wasn't strong enough to face him, not yet. She hated that she couldn't help me yet, us only having shifted just an hour or two ago.

My father picked me up by the shirt and threw me into the far wall, breaking me from talking to my wolf. Anger came off of him in waves, and I had to curse myself for my stupidity. He hated not having my undivided attention on him, and I could tell that I was about to have a hard beating. "Pay attention," he snarled, stalking over to me. "Do you know what I said?"

My throat closed up, and I shook my head. I couldn't speak, couldn't hear as the blood rushed to my ears. Fear came off of me in waves, and I knew that I was his prey.

"Answer me, you little Bitch," my father said, slamming my head against the wall. He pulled me by my hair and lifted my head towards his. "Why is my breakfast cold?"

"It was warm when I left for school, M-Master," I gasped out, trying to relieve the tension from his hard grasp.

After my mother died, he started to make us call him "Master," more me than anyone. He refused to let us use "Dad" or "Father" in public and had us call him "Sir" or "Mister."

"It was not warm when I got to it. Why not?"

"I-I don't know. I must have forgotten to put it in the microwave." I groaned when he slapped me across the face and busted my lip. I tasted blood, but I didn't spit it out because I knew that he would consider that as a sign of disrespect and would punish me for it.

"It was supposed to be hot." He threw me towards the front door, and the door broke underneath my force. He stalked over to me and pulled me by my hair. "Worthless piece of shit. Don't bother trying to find your mate. He will only reject you in the end."

I closed my eyes and waited for him to do whatever. I was limp, a rag doll. I was his punching bag, nothing more and nothing less.

My wolf howled out in pain as his words struck a chord. She knew that we were weak to be the Luna of the pack. She knew that Ash needed someone stronger, someone stronger than me.

"You should have died and not her. It is your fault that I had lost my mate." And with that, he slammed my head against the door, and I blacked out and was not able to feel anything else while he beat me black and blue.
