One warm Thursday afternoon, Toby Turner was at Target. He stood in the mens department, browing through a rack of jeans, when a young woman approached him.
"Excuse me?" She asked. "Are you Toby Turner?"
Toby looked up and grinned.
"Yep! Toby Turner, that's my name!" He flashed her a perfect toothed smile. "And who might you be..?
She smiled back. "I'm Abbigail! I'm a fan of yours." She pointed to her red Tobuscus shirt.
Toby's grin widened. "Hey, love the shirt!" He exclaimed, pointing to his own teal Tobuscus tee.
Abbigail smiled. "Yeah, I have like twenty Tobuscus shirts at home... for a girl that's 25 I'm obsessed a little.. " She blushed.
"Hey, I sure don't mind!" Toby said. "I probably have more then that at home!" He winked, chuckling.
She giggled. "Oh yes, I know." She said with a wink. Then, "Well, it was nice meeting you.." she turned and slowly started to walk away.
"Wait! Abbigail!" Toby yelped. "Would you.. uh... like to get a coffee maybe?"
Abbigail turned around to look at him, smiling. "Sure!" She said.
Toby smiled back. "There's a Starbucks nearby here."
"Sounds good!" Abbigail said, raising both hands into the air. "Let's go on an adventure!"
"A Tobuscus adventure!" Toby added. He led the way out the door.
Outside, Abbigail looked around. "Where's the Starbucks at?"
"Right over there!" Toby pointed across the way. "I hate walking long distances... or around my house... I just hate walking."
Abbigail laughed. "Same!" She said.
They both laughed and began heading across the street. Abbigail started walking faster, eyes gleaming.
"Oh no you don't!" Toby said with a smirk. He lifted his feet and Heelyed in front of Abbigail, who smirked back.
"Nice try." She said, and heelyed ahead of him.
"No fair!" Toby said in a mock whiny voice.
She looked at him. "I'm a Buscus. Of course I have heelys."
They raced across the parking lot, and the race ended when Abbigail touched the door to Starbucks.
"Beat you." She said cheerfully, and opened the door. The pair bundled inside.
"Oh look! No line!" He exclaimed cheerfully. "Wheew!"
They approached the counter. Toby ordered a latte, then turned to Abbigail.
"What would you like?"
"Oh.. um, an iced coffee would be fine." She reached into her wallet, but Toby stopped her.
"Hell nah girl!" He said. "You're with Toby Turner! I'll pay for you!" He handed the cashier the money before Abbigail could protest.
As they made their way towards the counter to wait, Abbigail blushed.
"Thank you, Toby. No ones ever done that for me before."
Toby smiled. "Well that's because no one is as gentlemanly as me!" He said.
Abbigail giggled. "That's for sure!"
The waitress handed Toby a cup.
"Hm.. iced coffee.. oh, that's yours!" He handed the cup to Abbigail, then took his latte from the girl behind the counter.
"So." Abbigail said with a smile. "Where do you want to sit?"
"On a chair!" Toby replied, a playful glint in his eyes. Abbigail smiled.
"Yeah, that's a good idea."
They sat down at a table in the corner.
"So Abbigail, tell me about yourself." Toby said, taking a sip of his latte.
"Hm, well. I'm 25 years old, I love video games, and I work at a comedy club."
"Hey, that's just like me!" Toby said. "Minus the working at clubs. How about your family?"
Abbigail frowned slightly. "I don't see them much. They kind of all just gave up on me." She replied. "What about yours?"
"Well," Toby began. "Mombuscus is my biggest fan, Dad likes trucks, and my Niecebuscus Ciara is awesome. Well, they all are."
Abbigail smiled. "I've always wanted to meet Mombuscus! She seems awesome!"
"Yeah, she is." Toby agreed, draining the rest of his latte.
Abbigail stood up.
"Well, I guess I should be going now." She said.
Toby's smile drooped. "You're leaving?"
A ghost of a smile flickered on Abbigail's lips.
"Unless you don't want me to..?"
Toby grinned. "Well we are having so much fun..."
Abbigail nodded. "True."
Toby stood. "So, m'lady." He said. "What shall we do now?"
Her eyes brightened. "Can we go to Gamestop?!"
Toby grinned again. "That's a great idea!" He opened the door. "Let us away, my lady, to the land where video games line the walls!" Abbigail giggled, and walked outside.
"Is there a Game stop around here?" Abbigail asked.
"Yeah, right over there!" Toby pointed.
"Thanks." Abbigail said. "I don't know this area that well."
"Shall we Heely?" Toby asked. He held his hand out to her. She took it and smiled.
"We shall."
The pair lifted their feet and began coasting down the sidewalk. Toby was faster, and he pulled her along, tugging on her arm like an excited child while she smiled. They soon reached Game stop. Toby pressed his face against the window.
"Ooh, they have Just Dance 4!" He exclaimed. "Ciara has been telling me I should get this!"
He hurried inside. Abbigail followed him. He turned to her.
"I'm gonna go look at Just Dance, OK?" He said. "Are you gonna come, or look somewhere else?"
"I'm gonna look at games for the xbox." She replied, and headed that way. Toby smiled, watching her, and headed towards Just dance. After looking it over, he headed over towards Abbigail, game in hand.
"Hey, I'm gonna buy this... Oh, Assassins Creed 3!" He said when he saw the game in Abbigails hand. "Excellent choice."
She smiled. "I've been wanting this game for a while." She said. They headed towards the cashier, and purchased their games.
They left Game stop. Outside, Toby turned to Abbigail.
"Abbigail?" He said, and she turned to him. "Would you like to come to my house for a bit? We could hang out, play our new games.."
Abbigail smiled. "Sure! That sounds like fun!"
