Prologue

"Come on Devin, are you sure?" I asked uncertain of my mates plan.

"Yes, we have to do it; it's too dangerous here." Her reply was quiet but then again we were sneaking around the castle.

"Leo is going to kill us," I tried to reason. "Callie will never speak to you again."

I watched her muscles tense before she stated, "Then so be it, it has to be done." I hesitated following her for a moment. Devin and Callie had been best friends for as long as I've known and for Dev to be doing this to her is just unimaginable. Especially knowing Devin's past involving her family; she knows how important that is to someone.

Not that I'd mention that to her. My mate would have me sleeping in the doghouse, quite literally.

I continued following behind Devin as she weaved throughout the dark and silent hallways. Any other day, there would've been others in the hallway but tonight everyone was ordered to stay in their rooms. We were no exception.

We stopped at the doors leading to the King and Queen's bedroom and with a silent pray, we opened the door. With the moon as my light, I surveyed the room. Leo and Callie were fast asleep on their bed wrapped in watch other's arms and after all the drama of the previous day, I wouldn't blame them. I wish my mate and I was doing the same thing, but of course not.

No, instead we are stealing the royal baby.

To the left of the bed was a small crib, our target. I kept an eye on the new royal couple as Dev quietly walked over to the baby and scooped it up. If the baby awoke, we would be screwed and probably beheaded by the new parents.

I glanced over at my mate to see her cradling the baby in her arms. I wished it was our own but I knew Dev couldn't have children and anytime I brought it up, I had to find a different room for the night.

We sped out of the room, grabbed our few things and left the castle before the alarms would ring.

Oh, Leo please forgive me, it's for the best. And we left the castle knowing we would never be able to return again.

I know this was posted on my little one shot thing (Which I never actually updated . . . oopps). But this is now the prologue.
